A Charlotte County couple faces child abuse
charges after their twin 4-month-old girls were taken to the hospital
with broken bones.
The father and mother of the infants, Timothy
Waters, 25, and Tabitha Walker, 25, were charged with Aggravated Child
Abuse and Child Neglect for Medical Care.



Charlotte deputies say the parents abused their
infant twin daughters so badly, one has a broken arm and the other has a
fractured skull.
The twin girls have now been in foster care for more than a month.
Friday, we talked with the children's grandfather and a neighbor who say they were shocked to hear the allegations.
Manuel Cruz is the step-father of the mother accused of the unthinkable crime.
"I don't understand it. I don't know how it happened," he said.
According to reports, the mother told deputies
several different stories - stories that pointed to the father as the
alleged abuser. And they're stories that deputies aren't buying.
Waters and Walker were both booked into the Charlotte County Jail, where they also face child neglect charges.
Deputies say they waited hours before taking the
child to the hospital for a fractured arm and they still don't know how
the child's skull was fractured. But they say the injuries occurred
during a two month period while the children were with both parents.
"I just can't believe they would do anything like that," said neighbor Dolly Barker.
Officials with DCF say they began investigating the couple in early December after receiving a tip on the abuse hotline.
Both parents remain behind bars without bond and DCF says the twins will remain in foster care.
