Police in Fairfield are asking for help in finding a missing woman and her baby.

Fairfield Police Chief Leon Davis, in a statement to FOX6 News, said officers were looking for Ashley Coleman and her 7-month-old son, Ashton. The two were last seen around 1 p.m. Thursday when Coleman left with her son from Alice Christian Academy Daycare.

"Neither mother or child have been seen or heard from since that time," Davis said.

Chief Davis said Ashton Coleman was in foster care. Ashley reportedly was allowed to take him home to foster care and see him during supervised visits, but daycare workers said something Alice said to them today alarmed them. Chief Davis said police were called around 3 p.m.

With the threat of severe weather, Chief Davis said all efforts were being made to located the mother and son.

She was last seen leaving the daycare driving a black vehicle, either a black Camaro or Mercedes.

Anyone with any information concerning Ms. Coleman or her son are asked to contact the Fairfield Police Department at 205-786-4111.
