AURORA — Police are asking the public’s help in
finding a missing 29-year-old Aurora woman who left her West Side home
early Wednesday morning with her three young sons.

Laureth “Laurie” May of the 200 block of Plum
Street, and her three boys — Quincy Collins, 4; Oliver Collins, 2; and
Spencer Collins, 1 — were reported missing by May’s fiancé Shelton
Collins at about 4 p.m. Wednesday. Police called May and her sons
“missing and possibly endangered.”

Collins said May was fired from her job last week
at Acacia Academy, a La Grange Highlands, Ill., school for special needs
students. May had searched for a job for a year, thought she had
finally found the right one and was fired after six months, Collins
said. She took the news hard.

Early Wednesday morning, Collins said, he and May
began arguing over her drinking and May’s phone calls to another person.
After the argument, May woke the three kids, loaded them in her station
wagon, and left, police said.

Police said May was driving her white, 2001 Volvo
station wagon with Illinois license plate 9590986. There is a pink
cancer ribbon on the left rear of the vehicle, police said.

Police said May’s behavior was unusual. Before
leaving, she gave no indication of intending to hurt herself or her
children, police said. It did not appear she planned to leave before she
took off, police said.

“Laurie is a good person,” Collins said. “She’s not a villain. She thinks that’s she’s doing right.”

Collins initially thought May went to her mother’s
house in Geneva to cool down. Aurora police said instead she picked up a
former student, 17-year-old Destiny Gruba of Cicero. Aurora police
spokesman Dan Ferrelli said it is not clear what, if any relationship,
there was between May and Gruba. Collins said he had heard of Gruba, but
was not aware May still had contact with her.

“It’s not what it looks like, but I don’t know what
it is,” Collins said. “In her mind, she (May) thinks she’s doing the
right thing. She thinks she’s saving this girl. She thinks this girl is
saving her.”

Descriptions

Police describe May as 5 feet tall, 135 pounds,
with red hair, blue eyes and freckles. She was last seen wearing jeans
and a blue jean jacket with a fur collar.

Her children all are fair-skinned black boys with
black hair and brown eyes. Police said Quincy is 4 feet tall and 40
pounds, and was last seen wearing blue-and-red pajamas with cars on
them. Collins said Quincy loves sports and skateboards.

Both Oliver and Spencer are about 2 feet tall and
30 pounds. Oliver was last seen wearing blue “footie” pajamas with
ladybugs on them. Spencer was last seen wearing blue footie pajamas
with snaps in front. Collins said Oliver loves cars and usually has a
Matchbox car tucked in his pocket.

“I know they are scared,” Collins said. “They don’t
know what’s going on. They’re probably getting cranky because they’re
not in their routine.”

Cicero police said Gruba is a white female, about
5-foot-10, 235 pounds, with long brown curly hair and hazel eyes. Police
said it is not known what she was wearing when she left, but she has a
piercing above her right eyebrow and a tattoo on her right calf of dice
and playing cards.

Waiting for return

Collins said he and May have lived in Aurora for
about three years. May has a degree from the Art Institute and grew up
in Philadelphia.

Collins said he realized there was a problem when two Cicero officers came to his door Wednesday asking about Gruba.

“She’s not in her right mind. This is not Laurie,”
Collins said of May. “I wouldn’t have been with her for 10 years if she
was like that. She took the kids and I’m a good dad.”

On Thursday, the boys’ toys were still strewn about the house.

“It’s an empty house, it’s not a home,” Collins
said. “I just want the kids back. I want her back. She can just drop
them off at a police station. She can do that.”

Police: Missing Ill. mom Laurie May and her 3 sons may be in Indiana

may be in Indiana.

According to the Chicago Tribune,
police said in a statement that credit card records and an unconfirmed
eyewitness report indicate that Laureth "Laurie" May and her children
were in the northern part of the state, possibly stopping in Gary and at
a Hobart Wal-Mart.
May reportedly left her fiance's house
around 3:30 am Wednesday after an argument, the Tribune reports. Police
say she woke up her boys, ages 4, 2, and 1, and loaded them into her
white 2001 Volvo with an Illinois license plate 9590986 and a pink
cancer ribbon on the rear.
May is a former teacher at La
Grange Highlands school, and Cisero Police say she may be traveling with
Destiny Gruba, 17, a former student.
A woman in Hobart claims she
spoke with May about her children and said there were four people
accompanying her including a girl fitting Gruba's description, the
Tribune reports.
According to the paper, May is a white female,
5-feet tall with red hair, blue eyes and freckles, and she was last seen
wearing blue jeans and a denim jacket with a fur collar. The boys,
Quincy, Oliver and Spencer, are all fair-skinned African-Americans and
they were all wearing their pajamas when they were last seen.
Gruba is reportedly 5-feet 11 inches tall, weighs approximately 235 pounds, and has long, curly brown hair.
Anyone with information is asked to call Aurora Police Investigations at 630-256-5500.

Aurora Woman Missing With 3 Kids, Former Student

A $5,000 reward is being offered for information concerning the
whereabouts of an Aurora woman, who has been missing with her kids for
more than a month.

As WBBM Newsradio’s Mike Krauser reports, Laureth “Laurie” May has
not been heard from since Feb. 15. The 29-year-old mother of three was
fired from her teaching job, got into a fight with her fiancé, Shelton
Collins, on Valentine’s Day, and hopped into her station wagon with
their children and left the following day.
May and the three boys – Quincy Collins, 4, Oliver Collins, 2, and
Spencer Collins, 1 – are considered “missing and possibly endangered.”

On Thursday, an attorney for May’s mother, Tara Selman, announced the
$5,000 reward for information that leads to boys’ safe return home.
Selman, of Geneva, said the past month has been torturous.

“Everything you do is going to remind you of one of the four. I wish I
could tell Quincy about this, or Spencer would really like this,”
Selman said through tears. “More than anything, I feel a loss of my
family. I love Laurie and I miss her boys. And want them home so very
badly.”

Before leaving, she gave no indication of intending to hurt herself or her children, police said.

Selman said her daughter had not run away since she was a 3-year-old
girl who packed two of everything before she threatened to leave. Selman
is mad at herself for not recognizing the signs of stress in her
daughter.

“I have no clue why this happened, why life is so harsh,” Selman said.

After she left, May apparently picked up a former student,
17-year-old Destiny Gruba of Cicero. Aurora police spokesman Dan
Ferrelli said it is not clear what, if any, relationship there was
between May and the teen.
Selman said when the kids initially went missing, there was a flurry
of stories. Now, she hopes the reward will put the kids’ pictures back
in the news and trigger someone’s memory, or remind her daughter that
there are people who miss her.

“I would prefer to hear to my daughter’s voice, but we’d like to hear from anyone,” Selman said through tears.

Anyone with information is asked to call Aurora police at
630-256-5500, Cicero police at 708-652-2130, the Clearinghouse for
Missing Persons at 1-800-U-HelpMe (or by e-mail at
missing@isp.state.il.us) or local police.

Anyone who has information that they feel may be helpful and who
wants to qualify for the reward should contact attorney Mark Brent at
630-406-5440 or mdb@batavialaw.com.

Laureth "Laurie" May - Teacher - Jailed After Fleeing State With Three Children To Have Sex With Female Student

The COLLINS Boys - 4-2 and 1 yo/ Suspect: Laurie May(Mother) - Aurora IL MayLaureth-ABN_20120329072924_320_240
Chicago, Illinois (The Weekly Vice) - Laureth "Laurie" May, a 29-year-old former teacher at Aurora High School was jailed after she fled the state with her three children and a 17-year-old female student she had begun a sexual relationship with.

According to police, an investigation was launched back in February after May left her fiance with their three children, picked up a 17-year-old female student and then fled the state.

An Amber Alert was issued when May, the children and the 17-year-old girl seemed to have disappeared without a trace.

They were all discovered and taken into custody March 20, during a traffic stop in Florida. May was taken into custody while the three children (ages 5 and under) were returned to their father in Illinois. The 17-year-old teen was also returned to Illinois.

In the investigation that followed, detectives learned that May had started a sexual relationship with the student while she was teacher at Aurora High School. The student was 16 years old at the time.

Police say May began teaching the student in September, 2011. The relationship allegedly turned sexual in December, 2011.

May reportedly gave a full confession in regards to fleeing the state with her children and the student. She also reportedly admitted to having a sexual relationship with the student.

May waves extradition and was transported back to Illinois late last week.

She was booked into the Cook County Jail on charges of kidnapping and sexual assault. She is being held on $500,000 bond.
