Amber Alert issued for missing 16-year-old Wash. girl

SHELTON, Wash. -- An Amber Alert has been issued for a missing 16-year-old Shelton girl.

Police say Vivian Gaspar was last seen in her bedroom at 9 p.m. Tuesday evening and was discovered missing at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. It appears there was a struggle in the room, police say.

"Investigators found the screen had been cut, the window had been open and there had been a struggle of some sort inside the bedroom," said Dean Byrd with the Mason County Sheriff's Office.

Gaspar is described as Hispanic with black, shoulder-length hair, 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 128 pounds. She was last wearing black shorts and a black blouse.

Police did not have any information about who might have taken her or any getaway vehicle.

"We are currently conducting a neighborhood canvass, interviewing neighbors to see if anybody has seen anything," Byrd said.

Missing Washington state girl found safe
A 16-year-old Washington girl thought to have been abducted has been found safe.

SEATTLE — A 16-year-old Washington girl thought to have been abducted has been found safe.

The Mason County sheriff's office had issued an Amber Alert on Wednesday morning after Vivian Gaspar-Guerrero's parents found her missing from their home in Shelton, Wash.. Vivian's room was in disarray, with the window open and the screen cut.

But by late afternoon, the girl was found in Olympia, Wash., which is about 25 miles southeast from Shelton.

Chief Criminal Deputy Dean Byrd says authorities now know it was not abduction, and the girl is being interviewed by detectives.
