The Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office has issued an Amber Alert
for a 3-year-old child who went missing after her father allegedly drove
away as sheriff's deputies were trying to serve a warrant.

The sheriff's office said Tuesday Chasity Almon and a 10-year-old boy
were with Robert Almon when he fled with deputies in pursuit about
12:09 p.m. Authorities say the boy is the child of a friend and was
later dropped off in Cleveland County.

Pottawatomie County sheriff's deputies were still seeking a wanted
suspect late Tuesday night after an Amber Alert was issued for the
suspect’s daughter and a boy who were in his truck when he allegedly
fled from deputies trying to serve a felony arrest warrant at his home.

Deputies were still searching late Tuesday night for Robert (Robby) Dale Almon, 32, and his daughter, 3-year-old Chasity Almon.

An Amber Albert was issued for Chasity Almon and 10-year-old Aaron
Brodine about 6 p.m. Tuesday after law enforcement officers reported
Almon abducted them from his home earlier in the day while fleeing from
authorities trying serve an arrest warrant.

Pottawatomie County Undersheriff Travis Palmer said when Almon heard
the Amber Alert over the radio about 7 p.m., he allegedly dropped the
boy off at a home in the 29000 block of Lake Road in the McLoud area,
near the county line. The boy told police Almon told him to go up to the
door and they’d get him help.

The series of events in the case began about noon when deputies went
to Almon’s home at 10 Austin Drive in the Bethel Acres area to serve him
a felony arrest warrant for assault and battery with a dangerous
weapon, Palmer said.

Almon wasn't home, Palmer said, but was driving a 2007 Chevrolet pickup
when he pulled into the driveway of his home and discovered deputies
were there.

"He saw us and took off," Palmer said, by cutting through a nearby
pasture. Deputies initiated a pursuit of Almon’s pickup which reached
high-speeds, Palmer said, but then deputies discovered there were two
children in the pickup and backed off.

“We made the call to discontinue the pursuit — we didn’t want the kids to get hurt,” Palmer said.

Almon was able to flee the area, but as a result of what had occurred,
deputies were searching for Almon on additional complaints of child
endangerment and felony eluding and kidnapping, all while trying to find
the children and bring them to safety.

Almon’s daughter, who was wearing a pink shirt and shorts, was
considered to be in danger, the Amber Alert reads. The boy, the child of
one of Almon’s friends, was considered to be kidnapped, Palmer said.

“Our main goal is get both children returned — our main goal is their safety,” Palmer said.

The Amber Alert for both children was issued about 6:11 p.m. Tuesday
night; the alert for Brodine was cancelled when he was dropped off and
safely located just before 7 p.m.
The Amber Alert for Chasity Almon remained in effect late Tuesday night.

Almon was driving a 2007 silver Chevrolet Silverado four-door pickup
tagged 225-FHP, reports show, with an Atlanta Braves letter “A” sticker
on the back window.

At press deadline Tuesday night, the search continued for Almon and his daughter.

Almon has prior felony convictions of assault and battery with a
dangerous weapon and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. According to
Department of Corrections records, he was incarcerated in 2005 and
released from prison two years later in 2007.

Anyone with information about Almon or his daughter should call authorities through 911 or the sheriff's office, 405-273-1727.

Update: Search for child in Pottawatomie County Amber Alert continues

Posted Jul 04, 2012 @ 11:45 AM

SHAWNEE, Okla. —

As families enjoyed the Fourth of July holiday Wednesday, Pottawatomie
County sheriff's deputies and area law enforcement officers were still
searching for a wanted suspect and his daughter, who became the focus of
an Amber Alert on Tuesday.

Deputies are still searching for Robert (Robby) Dale Almon, 32, and his daughter, 3-year-old Chasity Almon.

An Amber Albert was issued for Chasity Almon and 10-year-old Aaron
Brodine, a family friend, about 6 p.m. Tuesday after law enforcement
officers reported Almon took both children from his home earlier in the
day while fleeing from authorities trying serve him with a felony arrest
warrant.

Pottawatomie County Undersheriff Travis Palmer said when Almon heard
the Amber Alert over the radio about 7 p.m. Tuesday, he dropped the boy
off at a home in the 29000 block of Lake Road in the McLoud area, near
the county line, so Brodine was returned home safely.

Police are still searching for Almon’s daughter as part of an Amber Alert because they believe she is in danger, he said.
The series of events in the case began about noon Tuesday when
deputies went to Almon’s home at 10 Austin Drive in the Bethel Acres
area to serve him a warrant for assault and battery with a dangerous
weapon, Palmer said.

Almon wasn't home, Palmer said, but was driving a 2007 Chevrolet pickup
when he pulled into the driveway of his home and discovered deputies
were there.

He saw authorities and fled through a nearby pasture, Palmer said.
Deputies initiated a pursuit of Almon’s pickup which reached
high-speeds, Palmer said, but then discovered there were two children in
the pickup with Almon and called of that pursuit.

Almon was able to flee the area, but as a result of what had occurred,
deputies were searching for Almon on additional complaints of child
endangerment and felony eluding.

Anyone with information about Almon or his daughter should call authorities through 911 or the sheriff's office, 405-273-1727.

A
man who authorities say fled with his 3-year-old daughter as
Pottawatomie County sheriff's deputies tried to serve a warrant has been
captured and the girl is safe, officials say.Undersheriff Travis Palmer says 32-year-old Robert Almon was found Wednesday evening in Norman at the apartment of his estranged wife, Michelle Wilson.
Palmer says 3-year-old Chasity was released to her mother, who is not
Wilson. Palmer said Wilson was also arrested and faces charges of
harboring a fugitive.
Authorities
issued an Amber Alert on Tuesday after Robert Almon allegedly drove off
with Chasity and a 10-year-old boy — the son of a friend of Almon's —
who was later found unharmed at a Cleveland County residence.
Palmer says Almon faces multiple charges, including fleeing and kidnapping.

An Amber Alert has been canceled after the Norman Police Department
SWAT team Wednesday night apprehended a man in an hours-long standoff.
Officers at about 7:40 p.m. entered an apartment in the 2070 block of
West Lindsey Street, near McGee Drive, where they retrieved a missing
girl and took the girl’s parents into custody.

Police recovered Chasity Almon, 3, who appeared unharmed but frightened.

Officers also took Robby Almon, 32, of the Tecumseh area, and his
wife, Michelle Wilson, 37, of Norman, into custody, Pottawatomie County
Undersheriff J.T. Palmer said.

Palmer said Wilson might be charged with harboring a fugitive.

The undersheriff said Robby Almon is likely to see additional charges
on two counts of child endangerment, one count of kidnapping and one
count of eluding arrest.

Norman Police Capt. Todd Gibson said the suspect’s daughter, Chasity
Almon, 3, was retrieved and was being examined by medics, though she did
not appear to be hurt.

Gibson said police had to enter the apartment and bring out Almon, who did not leave peacefully.

Medics found that Almon was not injured, though he later reported he
had a broken wrist, so he was taken to Norman Regional Hospital for
evaluation. He will later be jailed.

Gibson said the SWAT team arrived around 5:30 p.m.

Police evacuated residents from one building, but residents were allowed to return home after the standoff concluded.
