ORLANDO -- Orange County deputies said they need help to find a missing, endangered teenage boy.

According to deputies, Ricardo Chang, 14, was last seen at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Central Florida Behavioral Center, at 6601 Central Florida Parkway.

Deputies said Chang's family is very concerned about his well-being, because he has been dealing with some emotional problems.

Chang is the son of Jorgete Acarie, who was murdered back in August in her Dr. Phillips home. Acarie's ex-boyfriend, Kristofer Gould, has been charged with her murder.

Ricardo Chang is about 5 feet, 5 inches tall. He has brown hair and brown eyes, and weighs about 120 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a blue shirt and dark-colored jeans.

Murder victim's son returns home to family

ORLANDO -- A family lawyer says a teen who disappeared from an Orange County treatment center, where he was sent after his mother was murdered over the summer, has returned to his family.

Ricardo Chang was last seen Monday night at the Central Florida Behavioral Hospital, at 6601 Central Florida Parkway.

Chang, 14, is son of Jorgete Acarie, who was murdered in August in her Dr. Phillips home. Acarie's ex-boyfriend, Kristofer Gould, has been charged with her murder.

Attorney Eben Self said the teen saw news reports that people were looking for him and went to a relative's home.

“We learned just a few minutes ago that Ricardo Chang has been returned or has chosen to return to family members,” Self said Wednesday night.

Orange County deputies said Chang has been dealing with emotional problems since his mother's murder.

Self said Acarie was lying next to Chang’s 2-year-old brother.

Chang went to live with his father after her death, who then sent him to the Central Florida Behavioral Hospital.

“It seems to me there is some responsibility on the part of that facility to make sure that people just can’t walk out the doors that are minors,” Self said.

As for how Chang was able to leave the treatment center, hospital administrators said they could not immediately give any details, due to privacy laws.

However, they said they were working with law enforcement.

Self said their biggest concern is to make sure that Chang is OK.

It’s not clear if Chang has been reunited with his younger brother.

However, there is a custody battle between Acarie’s family and Gould. He has a court appearance Thursday morning.
