DENVER, N.C. -- The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office needs your help to locate a missing 16-year-old girl.

Amanda Marie Atkins was last seen at her family's Lake Shore Road South home around 5:30 on Sunday night.

Officials say the family found Amanda's bedroom window open when they checked-in on her around 10:20 that night.

Amanda is described as 5-foot-1, weighing approximately 115 pounds with blonde hair and green eyes.

Authorities believe Amanda may be in Gaston or Lincoln counties.

Deputies locate missing teen girl at high school tennis courts

LINCOLNTON, NC (WBTV) - The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office says investigators have located a missing teenager who had run away from home nearly five days ago.

According to detectives, 16-year-old Amanda Marie Atkins was located by investigators in Gaston County on Friday.

Detective Don Mauldin, who investigated the case, went to the South Point High School tennis courts in Belmont where officers met the teenager after contacting her by cell phone earlier Friday morning.

Atkins was reported missing from the family's Lake Shore Road South residence around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. The family reported she was in her room and when they went to check on her about 10:20 p.m. the teen had left through a window.

It is not clear why Atkins left the home, but appears she was not injured in the time she was missing.
