THIS IS A CHILD ABDUCTION ALERT ISSUED BY THE TEXAS AMBER ALERT NETWORK The SAN ANTONIO POLICE DEPARTMENT is searching for JONATHAN JOSE GUILLEN JR, HISPANIC, MALE, 11 MONTHS old, 01302012 DOB, 2 FT 6 INCHES, 25 LBS, BROWN HAIR, HAZEL EYES and LAST SEEN WEARING BLUE JEANS AND A RED HOODED SWEATSHIRT. Police are looking for JONATHAN GUILLEN SR, HISPANIC, MALE, 23 years old, 11221989 DOB, 5 FT 8 INCHES, 185 LBS, BROWN HAIR, BROWN EYES AND WEARING A WHITE MUSCLE SHIRT WITH BLACK OR RED SHORTS, IN HIS abduction. The suspect is driving a BLACK, 2002, CHEVY, TRAIL BLAZER with a TEXAS License Plate Number of 7CZTJ. The suspect was last heard from in SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS Law enforcement officials believe this child to be in grave or immediate danger. SAN ANTONIO - A tip about the vehicle described in an Amber Alert centered around a missing 11-month-old boy led police to apartments in the 2300 block of Austin Highway on Tuesday.

In the initial alert, the vehicle was described at a black Chevy Trailblazer with disabled Texas license plate number 7CZTJ.

The vehicle was located at the apartments, but police did not find the man they were looking for, 23-year-old Jonathan Guillen. Investigators say the vehicle belongs to Guillen's mother.

Guillen is accused of shooting and killing his mother's boyfriend Thursday at the Oak Village apartments at 2334 Austin Highway.

Guillen took off with his 11-month-old son, Jonathan Jose Guillen, Jr., according to police.

Invetigators believe the child to be in grave or immediate danger, prompting the Amber Alert issued Monday.

KSAT 12 News asked SAPD why the alert was issued four days after the child was taken.

"Early on in the investigation, to my understanding, there was not enough information to trigger the Amber Alert," said Sgt. Javier Salazar. "There wasn't sufficient information to give an identifiable vehicle. During the course of the investigation, we developed information on a vehicle that was commonly associated with the suspect."

As of late Tuesday afternoon, police did not have a new description of the vehicle Guillen may be driving.

SAPD says at the time the child was taken, Guillen did have lawful possession of the child. SAPD says they are investigating whether the child is actually Guillen's son.

Investigators have been in contact with Guillen's mother and say she is not cooperating with police.

Guillen is described at 5 feet 8 inches, 185 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Why wouldn't the mother of a missing child cooperate with LE?

Mom-in, I didn't realize he murdered someone before absconding with the baby! It makes no sense for the mother not to cooperate.
Maybe she is afraid he will hurt the baby?

[i]So the father shot the boyfriend of his mother to protect his own mother. I mis-read and thought he shot the baby's mother's boyfriend. Another sad story then.

Tip leads SAPD to murder suspect tied to amber alert


San Antonio police arrested 23-year-old Jonathan Guillen Wednesday
night, nearly two weeks after police say he shot and killed his mother's
boyfriend then abducted his 11-month-old son.

Jonathan Guillen Jr. is healthy and has been turned over to family members.

Guillen was arrested around 7 p.m. in the 200 block of Carmen Place
on San Antonio's west side, after SAPD detectives received a Crime
Stoppers tip.

After getting permission from the homeowner to enter the residence, detectives found Guillen in a bedroom holding his son.

He handed the infant over without incident and was arrested.

Guillen is accused of shooting and killing 44-year-old Ernest Garcia
during a dispute in the 2300 block of Austin Highway December 13.

Guillen left the scene of the crime with his 11-month-old son.

San Antonio police issued an Amber Alert four days later.

"Right now it's believed he was in San Antonio the whole time," SAPD
Officer Matt Porter said when asked about Guillen's whereabouts since
the December 13 shooting.

Guillen has been charged with murder.

While being walked to a SAPD squad car, Guillen told the media: "I
want to say to my son I love you, man. I love you with all my heart. I
didn't leave you, they took you from me."
