A heavily pregnant woman who is believed to have killed her three children before she fell to her death left messages on the walls of her home asking for them to be buried together.

Fiona Anderson had written notes saying that she loved her children and would 'keep them safe' shortly before she died last month.

Officers found her children - Levina, three, Addy, two, and 11-month-old Kyden - dead at their home in Lowestoft, Suffolk.

Ms Anderson suffered fatal head injuries after she fell to her death from a multy-storey carpark on April 15.

The parents of the 23-year-old appealed to the father of the children to grant Ms Anderson's last wish.

Ms Anderson's father Michael Anderson said in a pre-recorded interview shown on ITV's Daybreak this morning: 'She'd written that the children were asleep in their bed all together, all tucked up with their bears.

'They were all looking very peaceful and happy together.

'And she also wrote "please bury us together, we want to be together to keep them safe".'

The father of the children, Craig McLelland, reportedly does not want his children to be buried with their mother.

Mr McLelland had recently separated from Ms Anderson, who was depressed at the time of her death, according to neighbours.

Mr Anderson said: 'We must understand that that was not Fiona, Fiona would never have done anything to hurt her children.

'So that evening, Fiona, whatever happened, she had in her mind that what she was doing was correct.

'She was looking after the children and she wants to be with the children to look after them still. Everybody must understand that.'

The heartbroken mother said she reacted with disbelief when she heard the news, saying: 'Things like that just don't happen.'

Both parents were emotional during their interview, and Mr Anderson said they would be unable to move on from their grief until their daughter is buried.

He said: 'Until we can actually bury our daughter we can't even comprehend going forward.'

Speaking on ITV's Daybreak this morning, Mirror columnist Fiona Phillips, who interviewed Michael and Kerry Anderson, said: 'Obviously Craig, the children's father, must be hurting too and Michael and Kerry realise that and the reason they wanted to do this interview is they're appealing to Craig.'

At the time of her tragic death, Fiona's parents and her sisters Claire and Laura Anderson said that 'life was sometimes overwhelming' for her.

In a statement, they said: 'Fiona was a beautiful, intelligent girl and a loving and caring person, but she had suffered from mental illness since she was young and we believe she was driven to her actions yesterday.

This was not our Fiona - she was not herself. She cared passionately about others but often brought stress on herself by caring too much. She was gentle but ended up under too much pressure.

'As a family we were close but she would often push us away, keen to do her own thing and not to listen when we offered support. Life was sometimes overwhelming for her.'

They added: 'She was really popular but just didn't believe she was and had forgotten there were people there that could help her.

'We wish more had been done to recognise her mental health problems.'

The inquest into the deaths of Ms Anderson and her children was adjourned last month.

God has a special place for little innocent angels.  He also has another special place for those that kill an innocent.  She won't be seeing her kids.  If I was the father I would insist she be buried somewhere else.  Taking your own life is one thing but to take three little angels and a fourth yet unborn is another.  William

This is a true tragedy that never should have happened; however if the father had not deserted them maybe it would not have happened. "In sickness and in health...." seems to have been forgotten in this crazy, sad world we live in today. Marriage and having children is a commitment that should not be taken so lightly.
I wish more people would ask, or even beg, for help from family when they become overwhelmed by circumstances that they feel they have no control over. It had to be extremely frightening to find herself alone with three little children and a fourth on the way and without the help and support of the man who had fathered these precious angels. Yes, what she did was wrong, but I think her last wish should be granted.

Tuesday 16 April 2013

The father of three children found dead at their Suffolk home broke down on Tuesday as he left a balloon and teddy bear at the flat where their bodies were discovered.

Craig McLelland, 24, clung to his mother, Mandy, for support as he visited the scene where the trio – named by neighbours as Levina, three, Addy, two, and 11-month-old Kyden – had died.

The body of Fiona Anderson, the children's mother, was discovered nearby at 8am on Monday. It is thought she died from head injuries after falling from a multi-storey car park.

Officers investigating her death found the bodies of the children at their home in Lowestoft a few hours later.

Neighbours said Anderson, 21, who was due to give birth to her fourth child in May, had been devastated after breaking up with McLelland the night before.

Megan Smith, a friend who lived next door, said Anderson had been depressed and had asked social services for help as she feared her children would be taken away. "She was crying out for help because she was depressed, she couldn't cope," said Smith, 19. "She had three kids … pregnant with her fourth – hormones take over. Three kids under the age of three is a lot to take on."

Smith described Anderson as "a lovely, bubbly person" who "did the best by her kids, her kids didn't want for anything."

The night before her death Anderson left a series of harrowing messages on Facebook in which she spoke of her hurt about breaking up with McLelland and said she would do anything to protect her children. In one she wrote: "Levina addy kyden evalie. Mummy loves you so much and ill always be there looking after you all. I love you. I'm sorry I let you get hurt. I'm sorry you had to see me hurting."

In another she wrote: "The people who are supposed to help us just tell lies and try to take my babies away. I keep trying but no1 will listen … I can't make it stop. I want it all to go away but it won't stop. I need to hug my babies while their sleeping and keep them safe and never let go."

In her last post, she uploaded a picture of an ultrasound scan showing a baby.

Suffolk county council refused to say whether it had had contact with the family but said the case had been referred to the independent local safeguarding children's board.

Sue Cook, director for children and young people at the council, said: "With the police investigation ongoing it would not be appropriate to comment on specifics relating to the family. For now it is important to support the wider family, friends and the community to grieve."

Last night Suffolk police issued CCTV images of Anderson's last hours as she walked around Lowestoft from her home to the multi-storey car park carrying a teddy bear.

Detective Superintendent John Brocklebank, from the Norfolk and Suffolk major investigation team, said: "I want to find out exactly where she went during this time period, so we can piece together her final movements."

On Tuesday friends and neighbours of the family continued to lay flowers and toys outside Anderson's home in London Road South. One card read: "Thinking of your family and friends at this really sad time. May you all rest in peace. Heartbreaking and sad. From a family that don't know you but was saddened by this."

As he left the scene McClelland refused to talk to reporters, stopping only to hug his mother in a car park opposite the flat. Earlier she had spoken briefly to journalists from her home: "I have lost everything," she said.

Pregnant mother who jumped to her death after killing her three children is laid to rest but refused final wish to be buried with them

A heavily pregnant mother who jumped to her death after killing her three children had her pink coffin carried in a horse-drawn carriage to her funeral today.
But Fiona Anderson, 23, who had been suffering from depression, was denied her last wish to be buried with her children because their father refused to allow it.
In a service attended by around 75 people, Fiona's mother Kerry described her as being 'devoted' to Levina, three, Addy, two and 11-month-old Kayden at the ceremony in St Michael's Church, Oulton Broad near Lowestoft, Suffolk.

She also thanked people in the community for helping them through the tragedy.
The rev Robin Pritchard who conducted Miss Anderson's funeral described it as an emotional and difficult day.

'Fiona suffered a profound loss of confidence in herself and in societies’ ability to help her. This has been terrible for everyone. We are shocked, feel guilty and are experiencing a sense of terrible waste.

'Should we condemn Fiona? Not at all.'
Miss Anderson and her unborn daughter Evalie were later laid to rest in the same Lowestoft cemetery where her children were buried last week, but in a separate plot.
Dozens of mourners, many wearing pink in tribute, attended the funeral which was also a memorial service for her children.

Miss Anderson plunged 40ft to her death from a multi-storey car par park in Lowestoft while clutching a teddy bear at 8am on April 15.
Police later found the bodies of her three children in her bed at their basement flat half a mile away.
Miss Anderson had left several messages crawled on her wall including one saying: 'Please bury us together. We want to be together. I need to keep them safe.'
She also left messages on Facebook claiming that her boyfriend Craig McLelland, 24, who was the father of her children, had dumped her for another woman.
Her parents Michael and Kerry Anderson went on ITV Daybreak last month to urge Mr McLelland to have a change of heart after he told them he wanted a separate funeral for his children.  But he refused to back down and the children were buried last week after a service at St Peter and St John
chuch in Kirkley, Lowestoft, Suffolk.

Mr Anderson said: 'It is not just a funeral for Fiona. We want it to be for all five of them. They should never have been broken up. She is overlooking her children. The plot is pretty close.'
He added: 'We decided a horse-drawn hearse would be the best way to spend the money that people have brought together for Fiona. We thought it would be a fitting tribute to everyone.'
It is believed that Miss Anderson stabbed Mr McLelland, causing him a minor injury, during a row in her flat on the night of April 14.
Suffolk Police confirmed that officers briefly spoke to Fiona Anderson hours before her death.

Deaths: Police sealed off this multi-storey car park in Lowestoft after Fiona fell to her death here, which led officers to discover her three children dead at home

CCTV images showed her dropping off the keys to her flat at the Fyffe hostel in Lowestoft where Mr McLelland lives at around 6.20am the following day.
It is thought that she had already killed her children and wanted him to discover the bodies.
Miss Anderson then walked around the streets of Lowestoft, clutching one of her childrens' teddy bears, before she fell from the car park.
An inquest is due to be held.
