WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Police are looking for a missing 2-week-old infant boy after getting a report that he was missing just before 8 a.m. this morning.

The initial call came from 1401 Village Blvd., at Ponte Verde apartments in West Palm Beach. A West Palm Beach police detective on the scene says the infant, identified as Mark'quan Johnson, was abducted by an acquaintance of the mother while the mother was in the shower.

The detective said the infant was wearing a "onesie" with frog feet. He is believed to have gone missing at about 7-7:15 a.m.

Right now police are searching the Tri-Rrail station and the entire neighborhood. Police are assuming the suspect is walking with the child since she did not have a car. The suspect is a black female, 5'7", 130 pounds, wearing a white shirt possibly with a blue sweater, black slippers and blue jeans.

Florida Department of Law Enforcement is involved in the search, as is Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

WEST PALM BEACH—

— Police are searching for a two-year-old boy who is missing, possibly abducted from his home while his mother showered, dispatchers report.

Dispatchers say the call came in at 7:45 a.m. from an apartment in the Pointe Verde at Palm Beach Lakes Condominiums which is in the 1400 block of Village Boulevard. The toddler was possibly taken from the home by a woman who was there as a guest or caregiver, they report.

A Tri-Rail spokeswoman this morning said they were told by authorities that the boy is two-years-old. West Palm Beach Police can not be reached to confirm the boy's age.

However, the woman who is believed to have abducted the boy is described as a 5'7" and 230 pounds. She has brown shoulder length hair and is believed to be wearing a blue sweater, white shirt and blue jeans. The boy is black and wearing a green jumper sometimes called a "onesie."

A search stretches from the Villages area southeast to the Tri-Rail station in downtown West Palm Beach at Banyan Boulevard and Tamarind Avenue. Authorities believe the woman who abducted the baby is possibly heading to Miami.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's helicopter is assisting in the search and seems to be focused in the area surrounding the Tri-Rail station.

Bonnie Arnold, a Tri-Rail spokeswoman, said they have been contacted by authorities to aid in the search.

She said they have employees walking the trains searching for the boy.

There are 16 stations between West Palm Beach and Miami, she said, and each train is equipped with security cameras.

The stations, however, are not equipped with surveillance cameras.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- A young mother came out of the shower before 8 a.m. Friday to make a horrifying discovery.

Her newborn baby boy was gone from their West Palm Beach apartment complex on Village Boulevard, as was the so-called friend who had just spent the night.

After four hours of frantic searching by police, there was still no sign of 2-week-old Mar'quan Johnson.

An Amber Alert went out, and authorities continued checking bus and train stations up and down South Florida.

Finally, at about 12:15 p.m., authorities were "elated" to deliver the news that the baby was found, and so was the woman accused of abducting him, Latonia Alvin, also known as Latonia Alvin-Williams.

"Someone saw the coverage on the news and we got a tip that the baby was possibly at an address in Riviera Beach," Riviera Beach police spokeswoman Rose Anne Brown said.

Investigators then spent the afternoon interviewing Alvin, and WPBF 25 News reporters also did some digging.

WPBF's Terri Parker spoke to Alvin's sister, Catrina Williams, who said her sister already has four young children of her own, then dropped another stunner.

"Tonia just had a baby," Catrina Williams said. "I want to know where Tonia baby at."

WPBF reporter Angela Rozier spoke to the baby's grandmother, Jannerral Wright, who said she can't figure out what happened.

"I don't even know the situation, so I can't say," Wright said. "I don't know if she got the baby and left to go spend the day ... I don't know what happened. I'm not any closer to any answers than I was earlier this morning when everything took off."

And WPBF 25 News' Cathleen O'Toole found that Alvin has had a busy few months with local police.

Alvin pleaded not guilty in court just Thursday on a fraud charge, and has at least one other fraud-related arrest, O'Toole reported.

There still seem to be many unanswered questions, but for Wright, she's just glad her grandson is back in the arms of his mother.

"I was just wanted to see the baby for myself and make sure he was fine," Wright said. "And I'm happy and I'm satisfied."

Please follow WPBF and WPBF.com for updates to this developing story as they become available.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- The woman at the center of an Amber Alert that had police scrambling to find a 2-week-old boy Friday has confessed to the crime, WPBF 25 News has learned.
Latonia Alvin, also known as Latonia Alvin-Williams, admitted her guilt after being interviewed for several hours on Friday, WPBF 25 News' Ari Hait reported.

Alvin, 32, was at the home of her 25-year-old friend, Tiounia Clayborn, in a West Palm Beach apartment complex on Village Boulevard early Friday morning. Clayborn got in the shower and when she came out, Alvin and Clayborn's infant son, Mar'quan Johnson, were gone, as were some of Clayborn's personal belongings.

After four hours of frantic searching by police, the only signs of the little boy were the few pictures police had provided local media outlets. Along the way, an Amber Alert was issued, and authorities continued checking bus and train stations up and down South Florida, using a tip that Alvin, who did not have a car, had mentioned to Clayborn that she was trying to get to Miami.

Finally, at about 12:15 p.m., authorities were "elated" to deliver the news that the baby was found in a home in Riviera Beach, and so was the woman accused of abducting him. About an hour later, mother and son were reunited.

"Someone saw the coverage on the news and we got a tip that the baby was possibly at an address in Riviera Beach," Riviera Beach police spokeswoman Rose Anne Brown said.

Did Suspect Just Have A Baby Of Her Own?

Investigators then spent the afternoon interviewing Alvin, and WPBF 25 News reporters also did some digging.
WPBF's Terri Parker spoke to Alvin's sister, Catrina Williams, who said her sister already has four young children of her own, then dropped another stunner.
"Tonia just had a baby," Catrina Williams said. "I want to know where Tonia baby at."
WPBF reporter Ari Hait reported Friday night that Alvin was telling friends and family that she was pregnant, and just Thursday, was texting pictures of Mar'quan, saying he was her newborn son.

Suspect Has Recent Arrests

WPBF reporter Cathleen O'Toole found that Alvin has had a busy few months with local police.
Alvin pleaded not guilty in court just Thursday on a fraud charge, and has at least one other fraud-related arrest, O'Toole reported.
There still seem to be many unanswered questions, but for the baby's grandmother, she's just glad her grandson is back in the arms of his mother.
"I was just wanted to see the baby for myself and make sure he was fine," Jannerral Wright said. "And I'm happy and I'm satisfied."

Grandmother Relieved

Wright told WPBF reporter Angela Rozier that she can't figure out what happened, or why.
"I don't even know the situation, so I can't say," Wright said. "I don't know if she got the baby and left to go spend the day ... I don't know what happened. I'm not any closer to any answers than I was earlier this morning when everything took off."

Woman gets 10 years for kidnapping baby

Latonia Alvin pretended West Palm Beach infant was hers

Latonia Alvin says she "wasn't in my right mind" that morning in January 2012 when she kidnapped a 2-week old infant from his West Palm Beach home while his mother showered.

Thanks to a tip generated by an Amber Alert, police found Tiounia Clayborn's baby Mar'Quan Johnson safe in Riviera Beach four hours after he was taken. Alvin, 34, was arrested, and convicted at a trial in September.

"I truly don't understand to this day why I took her baby," a remorseful Alvin said, in a statement read in court Thursday by her attorney, Assistant Public Defender Shawnee Lawrence. "I can only tell you I can't ever see me hurting anyone again."

Palm Beach County Circuit Judge Charles Burton said the crime was so horrible, it demanded the 10-year prison sentence requested by Assistant State Attorney Reid Scott. Lawrence had argued for probation, or a short jail sentence so Alvin can get psychological treatments.

"I can't think of a worse crime, to steal a child," Burton said, after hearing Alvin's apology and testimony from Mar'Quan's grandmother, Alvin's sister and others. "Thank God swift action by law enforcement prevented who knows.
