The Massachusetts State Police have activated an AMBER Alert for the abduction of a 6 year old child from Fitchburg. The child, Alize Whipple, is described as a black female approximately 3’9” tall, weighing 45 pounds with dark hair. Alize was last seen wearing a pink top, pink petite pants and pink sparkly shoes. She was last seen on Wednesday, January 8, 2014.

Police are seeking the public’s help in finding a 6-year-old Fitchburg girl missing since Wednesday.

The girl was abducted by her mother, who did not have custody of her, triggering an Amber alert, state police said.

A spokesman for the Worcester County district attorney said the alleged abduction has nothing to do with the disappearance of little Jeremiah Oliver, 5, of Fitchburg, a story that has shocked the state.

The girl, Alize Whipple, is described as black, 3-feet, 9-inches tall, weighing 45 pounds with dark hair, a state police spokesman said.

When she was last seen on Normandy Street in Fitchburg on Wednesday about 4 p.m., police said, Alize was wearing a pink top, pink petite pants and pink sparkly shoes, state police said as part of the alert.

State police and Fitchburg cops are looking for her mother, Leeanna Wilson, 50, who lives on Normandy Street in Fitchburg.
Wilson is white, 5-feet, 5-inches tall, 135 pounds with strawberry blonde hair, cops said.

“There is reason to believe Leeanna may cause harm to the child,” a state police spokesman said.

Police are looking for a blue, 1996 Buick Century with South Carolina registration, licence plate number JJT687.

“We just received word of this today and the district attorney urged the state police to put out the Amber alert,” said Tim Connolly, spokesman for Worcester County DA Joseph D. Early, Jr.

Cops are asking anyone who sees Alize Whipple or Leeanna Wilson, or knows where they are, to call 911 or the Fitchburg Police Department at (978) 345-4355.

State Police today released this new photograph of Leeanna Wilson (right) and Alize Whipple.

Sheriff’s deputies in Shelby, N.C. have located a missing 6-year-old girl from Fitchburg who was the subject of a massive AMBER Alert search by authorities.

State Police spokesman David Procopio said Alize Whipple, 6, was found unharmed in a family home with her mother, who is accused of abducting her.

“The child did not appear to have any immediate injuries,” Procopio said. “Obviously, this is a good resolution.”

The mother, 50-year-old Leeanna Wilson, was arrested by local law enforcement officers and is expected to face a rendition hearing in North Carolina before returning to Massachusetts to face unknown charges.

Procopio could not immediately say how Whipple and Wilson traveled south, or what charges Wilson would face.

Whipple is now in the custody of North Carolina authorities. The young girl was set to be taken into custody by the Department of Children and Families in Massachusetts before her abduction. Wilson took her and fled when she learned she was about to lose custody of her daughter, Procopio said earlier.

A spokeswoman for the DCF confirmed the department was preparing to take Whipple from Wilson, but would not say what prompted the state’s initial involvement with the family. Cayenne Isaksen said earlier today DCF would not release additional details about the case.

Overnight, police located a 1996 Buick sedan believed to be driven by Wilson; it had been abandoned in Leominster.

Police initially believed Wilson was fleeing with Whipple to Enoree, S.C., where they said she had ties. Enoree is located approximately one hour south of Shelby by car.

A Fitchburg woman who was the subject of an Amber Alert in January pleaded guilty Thursday to beating and kidnapping her daughter.

Leeanna Wilson was given an 18-month suspended sentence and three years probation Thursday in Fitchburg District Court, the Sentinel & Enterprise reported. She was released Thursday after serving about four months since her arrest.

Wilson, 50, was arrested in Shelby, N.C. in January, a day after an Amber Alert was issued in the disappearance of her daughter, 6-year-old Alize Whipple. The girl was found unharmed.

Authorities said Wilson was fleeing the area because the Department of Children and Families was coming to take the girl away from her. They believe she was headed to South Carolina when she was picked up.

Whipple told investigators her mother hit her with a belt and a ruler repeatedly, and also hit the child with her hands and slammed her head into a refrigerator, the Sentinel & Enterprise reported reported.

Wilson also pleaded guilty to slapping, shaking and slamming a 3-year-old neighbor who she said hit her daughter.

Family and friends outside the courtroom told the newspaper they were ready to picket the court if Wilson wasn't released. They said the woman was only disciplining her child, and agreed to plead guilty only to get out of jail for the birth of her granddaughter by an older child.
