Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a Green Oak Township teen who has been missing since May.




Chad Austin Killen, 17, was last seen May 21.Killen is a white male, about 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs about 140 pounds. He has hazel eyes and brown hair.Anyone with information is asked to call their local police department;

chad killen will be missing a year on may 21 - he has not been located. i am sure his parents must be worried - if he is ok, i wish he would get a message to them.

Police have identified the decomposed body found in a Hamburg
Township lake on Thursday as a missing Green Oak Township teen, who
would have turned 19 on Friday.Lt. Brian
DeNoyer of the Hamburg Township Police Department said Friday that
dental records led to the identification of Chad Austin Killen, who was
last seen May 21, 2009, and whose remains were found in Murray Lake on
Thursday afternoon. He was 17 when he went missing.“There
will be a whole lot we won’t know,” DeNoyer said. “We may never know the
exact cause of death. We’re trying to do toxicology but the natural
decaying of the body would throw the tests off. (The medical examiner)
does not suspect anything involving foul play.”Killen was last seen fleeing
into a wooded area in Green Oak Township after “being confronted by family members,”
according to a 2009 Michigan State Police statement. The
statement indicated that Killen’s family attempted to get him to return
home when he fled and he had not been heard from or had any contact
with his family since that day.Killen’s remains were found
by a recreational kayaker about 12:30 p.m. Thursday on the north side
of Murray Lake in the Brighton Recreation Area in Hamburg Township.Officials
initially estimated Killen had been in the water a couple months, but
they revised that estimate to “more than year” on Friday.DeNoyer
said Killen’s body initially appeared to be headless and missing its
extremities because those body parts were covered in muck in the lake
behind a home in the 6200 block of Nottingham Pointe near Stonegate Drive in the
Stonegate subdivision southwest of Brighton. However, the body was intact,
although badly decomposed.Authorities had difficulty reaching the body,
which was on the northern shore of the lake in a marsh area.It
took officials more than four hours to retrieve the body, which had to
be transported by boat across the lake, where they could get footing to
load the body into a van for transportation to the medical examiner’s
office.Police initially speculated Killen fell through the
ice after area residents indicated that the lake does not completely
freeze during the winter. Michigan State Police officials from the Brighton post,
including a member of the dive team, along with Howell Area and Hamburg Township firefighters
and the medical examiner’s office assisted at the scene.“This
is a prime example of a good working relationship,” DeNoyer said.
“Michigan State Police helped with Green Oak missing person and with us.
It’s nice to have agencies who work well together.”
