MAYS LANDING — Police were searching for the mother of a 2-year-old boy who was abducted from a mall Thursday evening.

Mason Ross was taken from the Hamilton Mall on the Black Horse Pike by his noncustodial mother, Cassidy Purdy, according to state police.

The woman was believed to be headed to Atlantic City either on foot or by bus.


The mother was wearing a gray and white zippered sweater, a black tank top and black sneakers. The child was wearing a black shirt, black jeans and white tennis shoes.

Anyone seeing the pair is urged to call 911.

TRENTON — An amber alert has been issued for a missing 2-year-old boy believed to be from southern New Jersey.

The boy, identified as Mason Ross, may be with his mother, Cassidy Michaela Purdy, who does not have custody of the child, according to State Police.

Authorities believe the mother and child are headed to Atlantic City tonight and may be traveling there via bus.



The mother was last seen wearing a gray and white zippered sweater, black tank top and black converse sneakers, State Police said. The child was wearing black shirt, blue jeans and black and white tennis shoes.

The boy is 2 feet tall and has brown hair, hazel eyes and a light complexion, according to State Police.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about their whereabouts to call State Police or their local police department.

A 2-year-old boy whose disappearance prompted an Amber alert in New
Jersey today has been found with his mother in Delaware, according to
Hamilton Township Police in Atlantic County.

The boy, identified as Mason Ross, was found with his 24-year-old
mother, Cassidy Michaela Purdy, who does not have custody of the child.
The two were located before 8 p.m., police said.

When State Police issued the Amber alert earlier this evening, it was
believed the mother and child were on their way to Atlantic City from
Hamilton Township, and possibly traveling there via bus.

Police have not disclosed any more information about the incident, and
it was not known whether Purdy was charged. Police in Hamilton said she
was talking with State Police in Delaware tonight.

Police have not said what town the mother or child are from.
