Casey Anthony's family was frantic during the summer of 2008: Two-year-old Caylee Marie Anthony was missing. Her mother was incarcerated. And the young woman's parents and brother were desperate for information — as was law enforcement.

The interaction between the Anthonys and Orange County deputies was the focus Thursday on the second day of extensive hearings leading up to Casey Anthony's first-degree murder trial in May.

The defense team wants to prove Anthony family members and others were "acting as agents of the state" and soliciting information from Casey Anthony inside the Orange County Jail, even though she had hired an attorney. Doing that would help the defense prevent statements she gave her family members and others while in jail from surfacing at trial.
