I should have known you were hurting and solace I’ll never find
If had looked closer and found the despair in your beautiful eyes
I would have done all I could to prevent your untimely demise

If I would have recognized the way you held me extra tight
Then you would still be here for me to hold you safe tonight
If I would have listened closer to your little words so jumbled
