Austell mother joyful after finding autistic son, 14, who went missing
AUSTELL - A missing, autistic South Cobb High School ninth-grader was
located Wednesday and is safe with his family, authorities reported.
Jean
Luc Pressoir, 14, of Austell, was found at about 3:30 p.m. by his
family. He had been reported missing since Tuesday afternoon. A
Mattie's Call was issued by authorities to help find him.
"I
feel wonderful," his mother Lydie Pressoir, said a few hours later. "I
thank the Lord and praise his name. I'm so happy because I found him."
Lydie
said she received a phone call from her only son Wednesday afternoon.
He was at the South Cobb Regional Library on Clay Road in Mableton. His
mother said he had slept outside the library overnight, when
temperatures dipped to a chilly 55 degrees.
"He called me from inside the library," Lydie said.
Jean Luc's
photograph has been circulated and posted at South Cobb High School in
hopes of locating him. The school's principal had been in regular
communication with the Pressoir family.
After learning of the
good news, South Cobb Principal Ashley Hosey said, "I am very glad that
he was found safe. Our faculty, staff and students were very worried
and concerned about him all day."
Lydie said Jean Luc was upset
when she picked him up from school at about 4 p.m. Tuesday, to take him
and his 12-year-old sister, Samantha, to see a dentist. She said he
told her that he had $75 taken away from him by fellow special-need
students in school.
By 6 p.m., they'd returned to their home in the Heritage Place
subdivision and the family was preparing to sit down for dinner when
Lydie said she called for Jean Luc to eat, but he did not answer.
"I said, 'Samantha, go get your brother,'" Lydie said.
"She said, 'Mommy, Jean Luc isn't in his room.' Then I hollered, 'Jean Luc, Jean Luc!'"
When
she went upstairs to check in her son's bedroom, Lydie said he wasn't
there. After searching the rest of the two-story home and surrounding
area, Lydie said the family went to a nearby police station to report
her son missing.
Jean Luc reported to a teacher that he was
missing some money, said Jay Dillon, Cobb District Schools spokesman.
However, the entire story isn't clear, Dillon said.
"That is being investigated by the campus police but so far there is no
evidence that any money was stolen and in fact it appears more likely
that the money was lost or misplaced, or that he never had it with him
at all," Dillon said.
Lydie said her son loves the library and that was the first place she went Tuesday night, but it was closed.
