Wednesday's witnesses:( http://www.cfnews13.com/article/news/2011/june/254957/State-calls-Casey-Anthonys-brother,-Orange-County-deputies-to-testify )
Amy Huizenga
On her friendship with Casey:
Huizenga admitted to defense attorney Jose Baez that she had only known Casey for five months when Caylee disappeared, and much of their communication during those five months was via phone or text message. Still, Huizenga maintained that she and Casey were "very close."
On her own recollection of the summer of 2008:
She said that was a long time ago, but she can recall moments. Baez questioned Amy's memory, asking if she drank heavily during that time. She said she did not believe so, but acknowledged that she would drink about three to four nights a week at the time.
On crashing her car:
Baez showed Huizenga a copy of one text message she sent to Casey after she had crashed her car into a guardrail. She confirmed the car was totaled, but said she only injured her nose. Baez noted Huizenga told people to keep calling her every few minutes. She said it was because the car's airbag deployed, and that had never happened to her before, so she did not know what to expect. Huizenga confirmed she never went to a doctor, so she could not know the full extent the crash had on her memory.
On Caylee's death:
Huizenga confirmed she was not home on June 16, 2008, the day Baez claims Caylee drowned.
On her friendships with Casey's ex-boyfriends:
Huizenga acknowledged that she moved in with Ricardo Morales after Casey dated him, and also struck up a friendship with another of Casey's ex-boyfriends, Jesse Grund. But she did not go out with him. Baez cut this line of questioning short after an objection from the prosecution, and Amy Huizenga was dismissed for now.
She did ask if she may say something, but the jury never heard it. Judge Belvin Perry called her over during a long sidebar with attorneys. Afterward, she said thank you, and left the courtroom.

Re: Trial Coverage and Discussion ONLY ~ Trial; Day 7 ~ JUne 1, 2011
Lee Anthony
On his living situation in the summer of 2008:
Casey Anthony's older brother, on the witness stand for the first time in her murder trial, said he did not live at home with his parents, but did live very close. He also said he talked to Casey every few weeks before June 2008.
On trying to track down Casey:
Lee said he tried to find her using MySpace and Facebook, at the request of their mother, Cindy Anthony. He said he eventually got a hold of Casey on July 3, 2008. Casey, however, hung up the phone on Lee several times. So he solicited the help of his now fiancee, Mallory Parker, to track down where Casey was.
Lee said Casey told him she was in Jacksonville, when he knew she was in downtown Orlando. When he called her out for lying, Lee asked where Caylee was. She told him Caylee was "being watched by someone" while she was out with a friend. Lee said he went to several bars downtown to try and find Casey, but he didn't find her. He said their mother eventually told him to stop pursuing Casey. It was then that he found out that no one had seen Casey or Caylee for weeks.
On the smell of Casey's car:
On July 15, 2008, Lee said his father, George Anthony, asked him to come to his house. When he arrived, he went through the garage, saw the white Pontiac Sunfire, and noticed a strong, potent smell coming from it. He said the windows of the car were down, and there was writing on the windshield.
On talking to Casey and learning Caylee was missing:
He said Casey and Cindy arrived home about five minutes later, and Casey went right to her room. At this point during questioning, prosecutor Frank George reviewed a deposition of Lee on July 30, 2009. Lee seemed to struggle remembering his previous statements.
Lee said Casey and Cindy were combative, and Casey told her mother that Caylee was sleeping at the nanny's, and she didn't want to disturb her by calling. Lee said it was the first time he had ever heard of a nanny. He said the fighting continued all night and into the morning of July 16.
Eventually, Lee said he approached her and tried to use role play to simulate a police officer's questions to her. He started asking her questions, but she looked at him "with no reaction," until finally, for the first time, Casey told him that she had not seen Caylee for 31 days, and that her nanny took her. He said Casey told him she had camped outside the nanny's house, and was staying with Tony Lazzaro while trying to find Caylee.
On going to Tony Lazzaro's apartment:
At that point, Lee said he went into "search mode," went to get Casey's things from Lazzaro's apartment. He told Lazzaro that Caylee was missing, and asked for Casey's laptop. Lee said the computer displayed a solid blue screen, and his attempts to restart the computer did not work. He said he also took two of Casey's bags from Lazzaro's apartment, including one containing several receipts. Lee counted 19 receipts on the witness stand.
Rendon Fletcher
Fletcher was a corporal with the Orange County Sheriff's Office in 2008. He was the first law enforcement officer to respond to the Anthonys' home after Caylee was reported missing on July 16, 2008. He is also the first law enforcement officer to testify in Casey's murder trial.
On responding to the Anthonys' home:
Fletcher said Cindy Anthony was very upset when he arrived, and did most of the talking. He did not recall George Anthony saying much. He also said he spoke with Casey for about 10 minutes, but she was not very forthcoming with information.
On the smell of Casey's car:
Fletcher said the trunk of the Sunfire was open when he arrived, but he could not say that he smelled human composition in or around the car. He also said he only walked through the garage to bring Casey out of her parents' house, but other than that, he did not spend much time in the garage.
Baez tried to ask Fletcher if any other officers came to him and said they smelled human decomposition. But the prosecution objected.
On driving to the nanny's alleged apartment:
Fletcher said Casey told him she last saw Caylee with her nanny at the Sawgrass Apartments. He said he called his supervisor, Sgt. Reginald Hosey, who arrived and began running the scene at the Anthony home. He then drove to the Sawgrass Apartments, and met another deputy, Adriana Acevedo, who arrived with Casey, who showed them a second floor apartment.
According to Fletcher, the apartment number was 210. He recalled the blinds were open, and the apartment appeared vacant, with no furniture. Fletcher said he remained there to investigate, while Casey left with Deputuy Acevedo.

Adriana Acevedo
On driving with Casey to the Sawgrass Apartments:
Acevedo said she responded to the Anthony home at 9:52 p.m. on July 16, 2008, and asked Casey to drive with her to the last place she saw Caylee. Casey got into the back of Acevedo's patrol car, but Acevedo said Casey was not arrested or handcuffed at that time.
By the time the two arrived at the Sawgrass Apartments, it was 12:05 a.m. on July 17. Acevedo said Casey led her and Cpl. Fletcher to Apartment 210. Fletcher stayed there, and Acevedo took Casey back to her parents' house.
On the Anthonys' demeanors:
Acevedo said the night she responded to the Anthony home, Cindy was very upset, and George was calm and quiet. She also said Casey was fairly quiet.
On the smell of Casey's car:
Acevedo recalled a "garbage-type" odor in the Anthonys' garage, but could not clarify whether it was coming from the Sunfire or elsewhere in the garage. She said she passed the vehicle, but could not recall how close she got to it. She admitted she does not have a lot of experience with "the smell of death."

Reginald Hosey
Lt. Hosey was a sergeant when he was called to the Anthonys' home on July 16, 2008, by Cpl. Fletcher.
On taking over the scene of the Anthonys' home:
Hosey said he told Fletcher and Acevedo to take Casey to the Sawgrass Apartments, and directed other deputies to go to Tony Lazzaro's apartment.
On his conversation with Casey:
He said he walked and talked with Casey, and reassured her they were not going to take Caylee. He just wanted to make sure she was OK. At that point, he said he was not yet told Caylee was kidnapped, just that she was missing. He confirmed that Casey voluntarily talked with him, and at the time, he wanted to get her away from the "chaos" at the house with her mother and the other deputies.
Hosey said Casey told him that Caylee was OK with the nanny, Zenaida. She also said she wanted to keep her mother from taking Caylee away from her. He said Casey was cooperative during that time.
On the deputies at the Anthonys' home:
Hosey confirmed to defense attorney Cheney Mason that all the officers who responded to Hopespring Drive on July 16, 2008, were in uniform and in marked patrol cars. Mason asked because Hosey chose to wear a suit instead of his uniform to the trial Wednesday. Hosey said he just wanted to look nice for court.
On whether Casey was handcuffed:
Hosey said he did not recall seeing Casey in handcuffs at any point on July 16, 2008. He said he did not remember telling any deputy to take handcuffs off her that night.
On the smell of Casey's car:
Hosey recalled smelling a foul odor in the Anthonys' garage. He said the garage door and the trunk of the car were both open when he arrived. He said he did not inspect the trunk, nor did he contact a crime scene investigator.
