"I want to find my sissy. And he said something about 'the man in black took her,'" said Haleigh's mother, Crystal Sheffield.

The 4-year-old boy gave the description to his mother nearly two weeks after his sister disappeared from her father's Putnam County home in Satsuma on February 9.

Investigators are no longer conducting ground searches, but said they're following up on over 1,600 tips. The reward for information that leads to Haleigh's safe return is $20,000.

It took him 2 weeks to come up with that. I'll bet his mother is behind that. George is going to be jealous when he finds out how much money she is collecting. JMO.

Haleigh's Father's Girlfriend Taken In For Questioning



Thursday, February 26, 2009 – updated: 12:20 pm EST February 26, 2009PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- Eyewitness News has learned that Misty Croslin, Haleigh's father's girlfriend was the last one to see the 5-year- old. Croslin was taken away for questioning again Thursday morning.

It's been nearly three weeks since the 5-year-old was taken out of her bed in the middle of the night. Deputies said Haleigh was home asleep with her little brother and father's girlfriend when the crime happened.

Meanwhile, seven cadaver dogs and nine officers were sent to search an area surrounding the home of missing five-year-old Haleigh Cummings Thursday. Deputies said the search was being conducted to make sure that nothing is overlooked.

The cadaver dogs and officers searched for human remains. Eyewitness News saw dogs sniffing along the panels underneath mobile homes in case a body was placed underneath.

Investigators believe Haleigh Cummings was taken from her home on Green Lane in Satsuma on February 9. Sheriff Jeff Hardy, as well as everyone involved in the investigation said they continue to hope that Haleigh is found alive and in good health.

Investigators said Thursday's search was not in response to leads received from the family or the public, but as a routine procedure that has proven itself in other missing child cases.

The canine teams are a part of Canine South, a non-law enforcement organization out of South Georgia that specializes in canine searches. The teams consist of cadaver dogs that specifically seek out human remains.

Investigators said more dogs will search the area again Friday.

Sheriff's Office Launches K-9 Search For Missing Girl

PALATKA, Fla. -- The Putnam County Sheriff's Office sent out several K-9 search teams Thursday to look for Haleigh Cummings.Haleigh, 5, has been missing from her Palatka home since Feb. 10.

According to a news release issued by Capt. Dick Schauland, "The search is being conducted to insure that no possibility is overlooked in the search for Haleigh."

The search, which Schauland described as routine, consists of several K-9 search teams from a non-law-enforcement organization, Canine South. The dogs are trained specifically to seek human remains.

"We don't have any joyful outcomes at the end. We have to take satisfaction in that we enjoy working with our dogs and it helps bring peace to the family, at least, knowing what has happened," volunteer searcher Pat Totillo said.

Volunteers took the dogs throughout a wooded area near Haleigh's home, as well as around the neighborhood.

"Again, this search is not in response to information received, but rather as a proven protocol from other missing person cases," Schauland said in the news release.

The last person to see Haleigh alive, Haleigh's father's girlfriend, Misty Croslin, was picked up for questioning Thursday morning.

Haleigh's paternal grandmother, Teresa Neves, said the whole family stands by Croslin, 17, and they welcome as much questioning as detectives need.

"I don't care who they take, and I don't care how many times they take them, as long as they bring my grandbaby home," Neves said.

SATSUMA -- Searchers have cordoned off an area in Putnam County.

Investigators have searched a Dumpster in a subdivision that's approximately a quarter-mile away from the home of Haleigh Cummings.

The contents from the Dumpster has been placed into a second, where investigators are going through the bags one by one.

Investigators are now using a backhoe to sift through debris in the first Dumpster.

According to News 13's Saul Saenz, investigators took pictures of the Dumpster before taking out the contents.

Neighbors told Saenz when cadaver dogs got close to the Dumpster, they started barking.

Her mother stated on tv that police told her they have no evidence in the trailer about her dissappearence either. They are comparing the case to that of Elizabeth Smart. She just vanished. No word on any searches going on today.

IMO if my child was missing, the last thing I would be doing is going to a tatoo parlor. What is wrong with these people. Im sure he could have used that $400.00 on something better there is always another time to do that, not when you are right in center of the media. OMG....that is the worst tattoo that I've ever seen! It looks like a $40 tattoo.

I agree that most people don't get a portrait tattoo in memory of a person they believe is still alive. That's just crazy.

Would you think I was nuts if I reported a haleigh sighting? Well I did. I was at the mall yesterday purse shopping of course and as I come from side of macy's to the other near the coach purse counter I say a petite lady maybe 25-28 with short dark brown hair with a little blond girl with wispy strands in a pink shirt about the size of Haleigh. The little girl was carrying a build a bear box. That store in on the other end of the mall..about a 10 minute walk with a small child.

I just could not go "Hey you like like Haleigh" nor did I have time to pull out a camera. I guess I was thinking mall security would be on me etc ...like Roy Kronk. But still last night I could not sleep. So this morning I called the Florida tip line. I described them, what I was wearing etc. Gave them the time fram 2:30- 3 pm probably 2:40 - 3:00 pm. Asked them to follow up quickly before the store records over the video and at least capture a photo.

Please dont think I am crazy...cause unfortunately I do have some strong opinions about Misty and Ronald in this case but I kept thinking "what if".

I don't think you are crazy dear carlos! Any woman who can write Macys and Coach(my fav, leather like buttah) in the same sentence is NOT crazy!!!!You did the right thing. Remember, we poo-pooed every Caylee sighting only after decomp smell, no nanny, and dna confirmed she was no longe with us. :)

I post very little on WS but I do under the same name. This incident just happened March 6, 2 days ago. The lady I spoke to said an officer would call me back "when they got to my tip". I did not know about the WS post. I may search for it today. Like I said...I have some strong feelings that do not yield a positive outcome, but I keep thinking "what if". SATSUMA, Fla. - Haleigh Cummings' great-grandmother made a short but emotional journey Friday, taking Channel 4 and other media inside the mobile home where the 5-year-old was sleeping 25 days ago before she disappeared. Authorities believe Haleigh was abducted sometime before 3 a.m. on Feb. 10 when her father's 17-year-old girlfriend, Misty Croslin, woke up to go to the bathroom and discovered the girl was missing.

At 11:03 am this morning I got a call from the Putnam county sherrif's office. The orocedure is they will teletype to the city police here in Lexington and they will follow up with me as well as Macy's about video etc.
