A legal expert on Nancy Grace said last nite, quote "There is an exception to the spousal privilege if it involves hurting a child." un-quote. So I guess even if they get married, they could testify against each other, if necessary. Wonder if Ronald knew this before he proposed!!

Princess, I'm a cynic too and I think there is nothing far fetched in what you are thinking could be possible. Thousands of children disappear every year and the stats show that the majority of the time there are no strangers involved. It is even rarer for a child to be abducted by a stranger from their home rather than from the street. However it has happened on the rare occasion so initially we keep an open mind. When we start to see signs of odd behaviour our alarm bells start ringing. My alarm is deafening.
There's nothing wrong with dissecting Haleigh's family to look for reasons why they may be responsible for her disappearance IMO. It's virtually impossible for people to successfully pretend to go through the trauma and grief that one would genuinely suffer in this situation. The thought has crossed my mind too that fame and money could be a motive.

The problem I see with this is that no one can prove she is HURT. She is MISSING. jmo Wonder if he's talked to a lawyer?

SATSUMA, FL -- Haleigh's mother's side of the family has asked a spokesperson to help them.
Wayanne Kruger from Arizona has come to Satsuma, Florida to help Crystal Sheffield, Haleigh's mother, while the search for the missing five year old continues.

Kruger told First Coast News Sheffield's mother, Marie Griffis, sought her out.

Kruger said she will help the family find a home in Putnam County. All of them live in Baker County. Kruger will also speak on their behalf and help them find an attorney.

Griffis said she wanted a spokesperson because she did not know how to handle the media.

Kruger said her young daughter was molested by her godfather in the early 1990's.
Since then, she has helped many families in the middle of child abuse cases and thought she could help Sheffield, even though it's a child abduction case.

Haleigh Cummings disappeared from her Satsuma home February 9th.

Kruger said when she saw Sheffield on television, she remembered when she was on television for the first time. "I was shaking, and I was upset. I didn't know what to say and I didn't know what to do."
Kruger said she is helping Sheffield for free.

I heard this on NG last night. Crystal Sheffield is also seeking the attorneys help with custody issues, she wants to try to get custody of Junior (Haleigh's brother) in fear that he may be taken to. Hmmmmm?. When Crystal had custody of Haleigh, she missed a total of 12 doctors appointments, 12......that's a lot, especially for a child who had turners syndrom and cronic pnemonia. It's not like she couldn't get off work to take her, she didn't even have a job. That is why Ronald now has custody of the children.

I saw Crystal on NG last night and her tears were fake. She kept wiping her eyes, but NO TEARS....there is something not right with this whole thing. I hope they are not pulling a KC..I cant stand the girlfriend flashing her diamond ring and talking about Haleigh in past tense...She knows something and it will all come out in the end...I just feel sorry for these kids that have to be bought up in these screwed up families....

Door Removed From Missing Girl's Home

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. -- The father of missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings will marry his 17-year-old girlfriend on Thursday, days after he proposed to her at a local Chili's.



Details about the wedding between Ronald Cummings and Misty Croslin were not known.



Meanwhile, a new search was being conducted for the girl, who was last seen at her Satsuma home the night of Feb. 9. About 100 Putnam County sheriff's deputies were searching along U.S. Highway 17, from Buffalo Bluff Road to Paradise Shores Road, north of Crescent City.



The area has been searched before, but deputies have returned "to be sure that nothing has been overlooked," a news release from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said. The search is not in response to information received, the release said.



Also, a Putnam County sheriff's deputy on Wednesday removed the back door of the Cummings home -- the same door that was found propped open the night the girl disappeared. Officials would not comment on why the door was taken, WJXT-TV reported.



Croslin said earlier this week that Haleigh would want her father to marry her.



"This is what Haleigh wanted. She has always talked about it, and even if she's not with us, she is still with us," Croslin said.


Haleigh's grandmother, Teresa Neves, took pictures on the evening of the marriage proposal. She said the couple plans to tie the knot because it's what Haleigh would want.



"He feels like he's fulfilling a wish for Haleigh," Neves said.



She said the wedding ceremony would be bittersweet without her smiling granddaughter.



"It's going to be hard. It's an event that Haleigh really should be at, but when she comes home, we'll have a great big wedding so she can be the flower girl and see it all again," Neves said.



The family is almost finished packing up the tent in which they've been camping out for longer than a month. Haleigh's family members said they are just getting by and waiting for the day when they can really celebrate with the whole family again.



"I think Haleigh is going to be very happy when she comes home," Neves said.



Investigators in Putnam County said tips continue to flood in, and they have received more than 3,500 different tips in Haleigh's case, including more than 400 tips from psychics. Detectives said they would continue to follow up on each and every tip they receive.

BAKER COUNTY, FL -- The Baker County Sheriff's Office arrested a man accused of stealing hundreds of dollars in reward money earmarked for the search for Haleigh Cummings.

Jeremy Leonard, 23, has been charged with grand theft.

People at the Baker County bus garage, where Haleigh's maternal grandmother works as a bus driver, have been collecting money for the reward fund.

Authorities say sometime last Tuesday night, an envelope with $670 in cash disappeared from where it had been locked up.

The Sheriff's office says Leonard was the only one who had access to the building at that hour.

Investigators approached Leonard at the Keller Intermediate School and asked him if he knew anything about the misisng money. Leonard said he had most of it at his house and hid the rest in his car, according to the report.

Authorities recovered all of the money and took Leonard to jail

SATSUMA, FL -- First Coast News has learned the father of Haleigh Cummings will marry his teen girlfriend and be in New York City Friday for a morning appearance as newlyweds on The Today Show on NBC.

The family of Ronald Cummings told First Coast News there will be a wedding Thursday afternoon. The location of the ceremony is not yet known.
The buzz of the wedding is not the only activity surrounding the search for Haleigh Cummings, the five-year-old girl who disappeared from her home last month.
Law enforcement officers combed a new area for any sign of the little girl, last seen on the night of February 9,
In Satsuma Thursday morning, about 100 officers from several law enforcement agencies fanned out in the woods located a couple miles from Haleigh's home.
Capt. Dick Schauland with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office says the search is in a new area but it's not the result of new information.

SATSUMA, Fla. -- Investigators again searched woods looking for missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings on Thursday - on the day her father married the teenager who was with Haleigh when she disappeared.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office said it had about 100 law enforcement officials search along U.S. Highway 17 north of Crescent City. The area has not been searched in the past, and nothing was discovered on Thursday.


The family told WESH 2 News that Ronald Cummings, 25, married 17-year-old Misty Croslin in a private ceremony.


They got married in front of 20 guests gathered in Cummings' grandmother's back yard.


Earlier in the day, the family still didn't know what Cummings would wear. He said his "I Do's" in a red shirt. Later he stripped down to his tank top for the formal ring picture. His bride was more traditional in a white dress and veil.


Her bouquet was homemade, and all the flowers were edible.


The couple had hoped to marry at their Baptist church in near San Mateo, but the church refused. So they contacted two notaries to make the ceremony legal.


Cummings' mother told WESH 2 that they're having the wedding now because they didn't have time before.


The couple hopes Haleigh will soon be found so they can all celebrate their wedding together.


"When she comes home, she will have Misty for her mommy, and that's what we want to give her," Cummings' mother said.


Cummings and his new bride don't have honeymoon planned yet, but Thursday night they traveled to New York City.


The couple is schedule to appear on NBC's "Today" show at 7:30 a.m. Friday. It will be shown on WESH 2.


Cummings asked Croslin to marry him on Sunday night at Chili's in Palatka. Croslin was sleeping in the home she shared with Cummings on the night Haleigh disappeared one month ago.


The sheriff's office said Thursday's search "is not the result of information received, but is being conducted as one more step in the continuing search for Haleigh."

I watched the video from the Today show with Ronald and Misty. Did anyone else notice Ronald demeanor? IMO he was quite defensive, he kept saying "I was at work, so how would I know". I don't think that they held hands once, Ronald kept his arms crossed and he seemed pissed off to me and Misty, she don't have a clue.

I think being in the media spotlight would make anyone uncomfortable (unless you are an Anthony). Every aspect of your life under a microscope and knowing alot of the people out there are waiting for you to do something wrong or suspect you of doing harm to your child. I am not sure how many people could withstand the scrutiny. (even those who are innocent can be made to feel guilty) imho - I am waiting for some more info -

i have eaten at that chili's. it's not even a nice chili's. ;)

to be fair, though, it's about the only non-fast-food restaurant in town! although, this story would be much better if it had been at the golden corral...

people like these are one of the many reasons i left putnam county. i know my parents hate me being so far away, but YEESH.

also, re: the today show interview: the detective was being *rude*, so
she walked out? last time i checked, detectives don't get paid to be
nice to people who can't keep their stories straight!

it's like she's been taking notes from casey's "everyone's mean to me because they don't buy my story *pout*" book. if it had been me, and i knew i didn't have anything to hide about the disappearance, i think i probably would have stayed and been rude right back.

i still think she left those kids alone in that trailer. i'm not certain that she actually physically did anything to haleigh, but every time i look at her i think she left them to either buy drugs or party somewhere. i also find it amazing that it just so happens she noticed something was amiss right as the dad was pulling into the driveway. quite convenient.

5-Year-Old Vanished From Mobile Home

SATSUMA, Fla. -- The father of a missing 5-year-old Florida girl said he doesn't want the media to focus on his personal life.
Ronald Cummings, 25, and his new bride, 17-year-old Misty Croslin, appeared on NBC's "Today Show" Friday morning. They got married Thursday in Putnam County, then flew to New York.
Cummings said he didn't know what his personal life had to do with national television, and he stressed that the media needs to get his daughter's face out there.
Haleigh was last seen Feb. 9 at her father's mobile home, just outside the community of Satsuma. The 5-year-old was being watched by Croslin.
When asked if she thought police considered her a possible suspect, Croslin said no. Cummings immediately agreed, saying a detective told him she wasn't.

My feelings exactly! He says it's no ones business what he does in his personal life? please! He and his 17 year old wife are constantly doing crap to attract attention to them! She glanced over to him when asked the question why she kept changing her story, is he telling her what to say? I'm sorry but theres something wrong here with these two idiots.
