Lisa Croslin, the step grandmother of missing 6-year-old Haleigh Cummings of Satsuma, has been arrested in Tennessee after a warrant for felony forgery was issued by Putnam County with a nation-wide pickup.

Hank Croslin Jr., Misty Croslin's brother, was released from the
Putnam County Jail on Thursday afternoon - the same day their mother,
Lisa Croslin, was arrested in Tennessee.

The arrests were made after a former Satsuma neighbor reported that a gun and several checks had been stolen from his residence.

A
sheriff's office report says that one check was forged and cashed by
Lisa Croslin on Sept. 8 in the amount of $400. The former neighbor
believed the items were stolen after the two used his phone in August.

Lisa
Croslin, 40, is being held in Tennessee on a bond of $10,504, Rick
Ryan, chief of staff for the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, said.

Putnam County Sheriff's Office investigators need help identifying a woman who brought a letter regarding missing Haleigh Cummings to the St. Augustine Record late Wednesday.

The letter apparently includes a tip about the disappearance of then 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings last February, according to a statement just released by the Sheriff's Office. Investigators want to speak with the woman to get more information and details.

The woman who brought the letter appeared at the newspaper's office in St. Augustine and left an envelope for Associate Editor Richard Prior. It included typed information about the young girl. Detectives collected the letter from Prior and started following up on the information, according to the statement.

"Unfortunately the detectives need further clarification of the information, and are hoping that someone will recognize the woman that delivered it," Capt. Dick Schauland said in an e-mailed statement.

The Sheriff's Office is not releasing the letter's contents, but if the information is true, Schauland said, "It could be very helpful in solving the Haleigh Cummings case."

Anyone who knows the woman who delivered the tip should call Crimestoppers at 1-888-277-TIPS (8477), or the Putnam County Sheriff's Office at 386-329-0808.

Detectives say they have spoken with the woman who dropped off a letter in St. Augustine last week about Haleigh Cummings.

According to Capt. Dick Schauland with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, she learned that detectives wanted to speak with her, so she came by the office voluntarily.

Detectives are not releasing the woman's name or the contents of the letter, but they say she told them she was dropping it off for someone else.

The associate editor of the newspaper said the letter contained a tip regarding the disappearance of Haleigh Cummings.

The woman who dropped of a letter at a local newspaper claiming to have a tip regarding the HaLeigh Cummings case, has come forward.
Surveillance video captured the blond woman wearing scrubs drop off the letter on Wednesday afternoon at the St. Augustine Record Newspaper.

Putnam County Captain Dick Schauland said “She learned that they were trying to find her, so she came to the sheriff’s office herself, she wasn’t’ picked up she came on her own and talked to our officers for about an hour.”
He added, “The officers are following up on it. The clarification they got her has helped. Hopefully it will lead to something that will help us to find HaLeigh. But… we do not know at this point if it is good information or not."
Schauland also said the woman did not write the letter, but delivered it for someone else.
HaLeigh is 3’ tall and weighs 39 pounds. She has blonde hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information on HaLeigh’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Putnam County Sheriff's Office at 386-329-0808 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-277-TIPS. A reward of $35,000 is available for information leading to her recovery or the conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance. You may remain anonymous.

On Wednesday, St. Johns County deputies were called to the St. Augustine Record to take possession of a typed letter about Haleigh dropped off to the attention of Associate Editor Richard Prior. It was signed only with initials.

Investigators have not disclosed the contents of the letter that was left with the newspaper's receptionist about 3 p.m. Wednesday. Prior said the information doesn't point the finger at any individual, but definitely says what happened to Haleigh.
"It will probably solve what happened to Haleigh Cummings," Prior told a reporter about the tip.
Prior said police also thought the tip could solve the seven-month long missing child case "but they have to determine if it's authentic."
Putnam County investigators said they are treating it as important, just as they have with the more than 4,000 other tips they have received since Feb. 10, when Haleigh was reported missing and an Amber Alert was issued.
Late Friday, Schauland said the woman had learned that authorities wanted to talk to her and she voluntarily came to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.
The woman, whose name was not released, said she was just a messenger delivering the letter for someone else, leaving investigators with questions.
"It has to do with the whereabouts of Haleigh," Putnam County Capt. Dick Schaulan said, and they wanted to talked to the woman to clarify the information. "If it doesn't find Haleigh, it goes in the stack with a lot of the other tips."

Letter Dropped Off Last Week Offered Burial Site For Missing Girl


Investigators said they found nothing at a possible burial site for missing 6-year-old Haleigh Cummings, who was last seen in February.
A letter was dropped off at the newspaper offices of the St. Augustine Record last week. According to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, the letter contained information about a possible burial site of the Satsuma girl.
The Sheriff's Office said the tip -- one of 4,000 received so far in the case -- did not lead to Haleigh.

Putnam County investigators said they searched an area identified as
Haleigh Cummings' grave in a letter dropped off at the St. Augustine
Record last week, but the tip did not lead to the 6-year-old girl who
has been missing for more than seven months.The letter, signed
only with initials, was dropped off at the St. Augustine newspaper
office last Wednesday afternoon. Associate Editor Richard Prior, who
saw the letter, told Channel 4 the tip would lead investigators to
Haleigh -- "if it's authentic."The woman who dropped off the
letter came forward, but investigators said she told them she was the
messenger for a man who claimed to be an FBI informant with special
psychic abilities. Detectives were told the woman does not personally
know the family or have any information about Haleigh's whereabouts.
They would like to talk to the man who wrote the letter.

Ronald Cummings' mobile home in Satsuma. She and her younger brother
were being watched by Misty Croslin -- at the time Ronald's 17-year-old
girlfriend -- while the father worked a night shift.An Amber
Alert was issued the next day as investigators believed Haleigh was
taken from the home. Investigators have given polygraph tests to
everyone who had contact with Haleigh in the days before she
disappeared and have followed leads throughout Florida and beyond, but
they said they still don't know what happened to Haleigh.Anyone who has any information about what happened to Haleigh is asked to call Crimestoppers at 888-277-8477.

The Sheriff's Office has released more information about the mystery note involving a missing girl.

The letter was dropped off last week at the St. Augustine Record Newspaper.

Monday, investigators said the note mentioned a specific site where Haleigh Cummings' body could possibly be found in Putnam County.

Haleigh Cummings disappeared from her Satsuma home in February. She was 5-years-old at the time.

Dick Schauland with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said, "It was a real specific tip as far as directions to where it was buried, where supposedly the burial site was. [Investigators] followed up on that, they had cadaver dogs there. This was an area that had been searched prior, and they had cadaver dogs out there earlier. So the area has been searched really well."

However, nothing was found.

Investigators are not identifying the woman who delivered the letter to a St. Augustine Record reporter. However, Schauland said she claims she was a messenger for a former FBI informant with "special abilities."

Two other letters containing information about the Haleigh investigation have been released to the media in the past week.

The Putnam County Sheriff's Office did not release them, but a private investigator said he intercepted the letters.

Last week, a letter apparently from a Putnam County Jail inmate was released to the media. Over the weekend, a second letter from that same inmate was distributed to the media.

The two letters say about the same thing.

In the letters, the inmate says investigators have questioned her about a particular scenario.

She says she's been questioned if Haleigh got into some pills -- specifically Oxycontin, if Haleigh overdosed on the pills, and then if someone disposed of the body.

Monday, Schauland with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office confirmed investigators have questioned the inmate.

Schauland also said investigators have spoken to an individual who has signed a sworn statement about the scenario in which Haleigh overdosed on pills.

"We do have a sworn affidavit," Schauland said. "It's a process they go through. [Investigators] make them swear the information they've given is true and that's what a sworn affidavit is. There is one that says that and [investigators]have not been able to substantiate that at all. As you know, they pumped the lake and found nothing."

Schauland said the sheriff's office did not find any evidence to prove Haleigh got access to drugs and that someone disposed of her body at the lake which investigators drained in the Mondex area last weekend.

When reporters asked Schauland if Haleigh could've gotten a hold of some drugs at all, he said he and investigators just didn't know.

Schauland and investigators continue to say Misty Croslin Cummings, Haleigh's stepmother, is the key to the investigation and knows information that can help them find the little girl.

Investigators on Monday said the letter contained specific information about a site where Haleigh may be buried.
The St. Augustine Record reports in today's edition just how specific:
"Check the back of father's mobile home. From the right
end of the mobile home extending out continue for 540 yards straight.
At that point go north 12 yards. Dig 2-3 feet, will strike metal
covering an old well, check inside, black plastic garbage bag.
Circumstances extend statewide and beyond."
The typewritten letter, according to the St. Augustine Record, is signed by the initials "SAM."
Investigators told First Coast News they searched the area but
nothing came up. The Putnam County Sheriff's Office also said the area
had been searched before.
A woman dressed in what appeared to be blue hospital scrubs handed
the letter to the receptionist at the St. Augustine Record on Sept. 23.
The Putnam County Sheriff's Office said Monday the woman told
investigators she worked as a messenger for an older man who had once
been an FBI informant. The unidentified woman also told investigators
the man had some "special abilities." Capt. Dick Schauland, a spokesman
for the sheriff's office, wouldn't elaborate on whether those abilities
meant "psychic abilities."
"We have not talked to him," said Schauland. "We've asked her to bring him in. I don't know if she'll be able to or not."
Haleigh Cummings has been missing since the night of Feb. 9. Misty
Croslin-Cummings told detectives she put Haleigh to bed around 8 p.m.
The teen wife of Haleigh's father said she woke up around 3 a.m. and
noticed Haleigh had disappeared.

Misty Croslin Cummings sudden vacation caused a great deal of rumblings online. There were two wonderful although completely bogus rumors.
My favorite was that Misty Cummings was under protective custody. I will not name names, but here is the quote from someone close to the investigation:

Are you kidding! She would be the last person we would make that offer to!

The other silly rumor was that Misty had turned herself into some sort of religious facility and was spilling the beans. This story has subsequently and mysteriously disappeared from the site involved. Ahh the joys of the internet! There is no need to verify your information, just publish. This particular site is a no name blog, so I guess there was no harm done.
So what is the real story? My sources, and they are very reliable, tell me that Misty did indeed spend a day at Universal Studios, but that was not the prime motivation. Ronald and Misty did not have a huge fight, again nonsense created online, rather it was a planned trip.
You may not like Ronald Cummings or Misty Croslin Cummings, and I certainly do not, but, think about if for a moment. These two people have been in the media spotlight for months. Their stress level must be pretty high.
Misty left somewhat quietly just to get away for a few days, time away from the constant pressure, she did by the way return last night. What you may not be aware of is that last Friday Ronald Cummings also went to Orlando. Misty, Ron, and Junior had a great day at a local park. Junior could be a little boy again, rather than a lab experiment under the press microscope.
I think one of the things that many people miss is the fact that there are innocent victims in this case. Sure, we would all like to throw the whole family behind bars, they seem to have very few redeeming features. But what about Junior? Doesn’t he deserve some respect? Of course it would be valid to argue that Junior is going to grow up to be just as dysfunctional as the rest of the clan but only time will tell.
I do not have a great deal of time for the Cummings, Croslin’s or Shefield’s, they all have their unique challenges. What I do care about is the safe return of Haleigh Cummings. Someone, somewhere holds the missing jigsaw piece, and I do wish they would come forward. If Haleigh Cummings is still alive she needs to be found, if she is no longer with us, the culprits need to be brought to justice

I am talking about the reporting on the story of missing 6-year-old Haleigh Cummings of Satsuma, FL who was taken from her father's home February 9, 2009 while in the care of her babysitter--now stepmother--Misty Croslin-Cummings.
Last night, I willfully refused to obey a request from a cable network "news" show.
A producer wanted be to play it up in an update about the child's stepmother getting away from the public for a few days ..."Cops find Misty!!!! Misty refusing to speak!!!! Attorney has made no effort to bring her in for questioning!!!!!!
All the cops said this week is that Misty has a standing invitation to come in anytime with her lawyer and straighten out her timeline.
The police knew how to get in touch with her with on call. Contact her lawyer!
Truth:

* Misty was at Universal---not Disney or Epcot.
* Ron was supposed to meet with her Thursday, but plans changed
* Ron and Misty were in contact with each other every day
* Lawyer knew where Misty was every hour of the day
* A friend of Teresa Neves paid for the tickets
* Ron and Jr. did not go to Universal, but met with Misty over the weekend and went to a large park so Jr. could play like a regular kid with no cameras or internet stalkers
* I don't much care for Ron and Misty's behavior, but they are people, too. They have been under a microscope and just wanted to get away from the public for awhile
* No laws were broken

As for "where is Misty?" I sat next to Misty last night in the waiting room of a TV in Jacksonville, FL for 20 minutes just before we went on the air.

In fact, I had a long talk with her.

We talked about her family.

She said, "It looks like my mom is on quite a ride!"

Misty's mother just had an extradition hearing earlier in the day in Tennessee where she was being held on $100,000 as a fugitive from justice. The charge she faces in Putnam County Florida is forgery of a check in the amount of $400--a check she allegedly stole from a blind former neighbor who let her and her son Tommy use his phone.

Misty got a very hateful look in here eye when she talked about her brother Tommy. She has a permanent restraining order on him after he drove with Misty's parents to the home where Misty and her husband Ronald live with Ronald's grandmother in Wellaka, FL and started a fight.

Tommy was with his mother the night she allegedly stole the checks from the blind former neighbor. In fact, Tommy was arrested and charged with theft after the blind man discovered his gun missing.

Before he bonded out, Tommy told Putnam County investigators that he was called by Ronald to check on Misty since she had not answered his telephone calls and text messages following a fight on the phone earlier in the evening of February 9, 2009.

Tommy told officers he went down to Ron's home and banged on the door. He said he saw no lights on and did not see or hear a TV. He claimed it was silent and said he thought no one was home and left.

Police have been trying to find out for months where Misty was that night since her timeline has been very inconsistent.

Just as Misty was ending her spout off on Tommy, she looked away from me as she said without being asked, "...and wasn't at no party that night either!"

She just put it out there.

Misty folded her arms, clamped her mouth shut looked at the big screen TV in the room.

At this moment, I am examining my heart, my soul, my mind and my actions.

When did the truth become irrelevant and hype win out for ratings and page views?

I informed the producers of the Nancy Grace Show this morning that I will be stepping aside from the national coverage of the Haleigh Cummings disappearance is Satsuma, FL. I have elected instead to spend more time on the local aspect of the story.

The members of the Nancy Grace Show staff have been kind and generous in allowing me to participate as a contributing reporter in their coverage of this tragedy.

I explained to one of the producers by phone this morning that the national coverage and the local stories we report appear to differ a bit at times. I explained to her that this is a concern to a news director of a local radio station.

She was very gracious in listening to me and my reasons for deciding to step aside on this story. I appreciated that.

It has been almost eight months since
6-year-old Haleigh Cummings was last seen. But signs encouraging
prayers for her still are posted around southern Putnam County, and
residents remain hopeful that at the very least, her family will
receive answers.Employees at Byrd's Housing Center off U.S. 17 said their sign -
"Our prayers are with the Haleigh Cummings family to bring Haleigh
home" - went down only once about two months ago after the child had
been reported missing on Feb. 10. Then a woman stopped at the business
to say how much it had touched her that they had kept it posted for so
long. The message went back up and has been flashing ever since, sales
manager Jan Harrison said."It's just so close. It's personal for
all of us," bookkeeper Linda Stevens said of the community's continued
prayers for the girl's return. The business is located just north on
the highway from the neighborhood where Haleigh was last seen.Putnam
County sheriff's spokesman Lt. Johnny Greenwood used almost the same
words when explaining officers' feelings about the investigation."I
can promise the citizens, especially of Putnam County, that we are
taking every means available to us to come to resolution in this case.
We want an end to this like the family does," he said. "This has become
part of us now. We want to find Haleigh and bring her home to her
family, and whatever it takes, we're going to do it."Haleigh was
5 years old when she was last seen at her father's home in Satsuma.
Initial reports said the girl was at the residence, a rented mobile
home off Green Lane, with her younger brother and her father's
girlfriend, whom he later married, Misty Croslin-Cummings. Greenwood
said officers have a report that another relative last saw the girl at
about 7 p.m. that night.Croslin-Cummings told officers Haleigh
went to bed at about 8 p.m. and that when she woke up, she thought
about 3 a.m., to go the bathroom she noticed Haleigh was missing. The
back screen door had been propped open with a cinder block. There were
no signs of forced entry.Early in the case, officers interviewed
sex offenders living in the area to eliminate any as possible suspects.
They have since repeatedly searched for Haleigh in the woods and water,
including the St. Johns River and a pond off State Road 19.In
recent months, the focus of the investigation has shifted from a
possible stranger abduction to questioning people related to or
acquainted with Haleigh. Investigators have said the girl's biological
parents are not suspects.Ronald Cummings was in and out of jail
during the summer on an unrelated charge of burglary with assault or
battery after a fight involving his wife's relatives. Croslin-Cummings'
brother and mother were arrested last month in cases the Sheriff's
Office also said were not related to Haleigh's disappearance. Tommy
Croslin is accused of taking a former neighbor's gun, while Lisa
Croslin is accused of forging a check that belonged to the same
neighbor.Greenwood said these arrests are not because of the
investigation into Haleigh's disappearance but acknowledged the
Sheriff's Office has and will continue to take advantage of these
opportunities to question people about the missing child."These
individuals (who) are being arrested are being arrested for other
things they are doing out there in the community, but we've always
taken the stance that if we have an opportunity of speaking to anybody
that might know something in this case, we're going to speak with
them," Greenwood said.After Croslin-Cummings' brother was
arrested last month, investigators revealed Hank "Tommy" Croslin Jr.
had told them Haleigh's father had asked him to check on his home the
night Haleigh disappeared because he couldn't reach his
then-girlfriend. The house was dark, and no one answered the door when
he banged on it, the Sheriff's Office reported Tommy Croslin told them.Investigators
have said Croslin-Cummings is the key to the case and that her version
of events the night the girl disappeared doesn't add up."She's
the key person, and we'll still say that," Greenwood said. Her accounts
and the physical evidence "don't match up," he said."We need to
know what was going on that night. All we've been able to obtain at
this point are sketchy statements from Misty Croslin. We do not know
what she was doing that night," Greenwood said.Croslin-Cummings'
attorney, Robert Fields, said her report of what happened that night
has not changed and that he doesn't know what else investigators want."How
can they say that after questioning her for seven months without an
attorney," he said, referring to investigators' comments about his
client.Attempts last week to contact Ronald Cummings, Tommy Croslin
and others connected to Haleigh at their homes were not successful.The
Sheriff's Office has one primary investigator assigned to the case.
Members of the agency's Major Crimes Unit, who meet daily, are briefed
on the case to see if there is a need to conduct an interview or
search. And a Florida Department of Law Enforcement agent, working out
of the Sheriff's Office, reviews tips to check that deputies haven't
missed anything.A homicide investigator also is assigned to the investigation."Really,
right now, we're working this as a missing person because we haven't
received any relevant information to this date that she's deceased,"
Greenwood said. "But we do keep our homicide investigator in the loop
and in this investigation in the event that we do discover she's not
alive any more."Greenwood wouldn't talk about what forensic
evidence has been gathered in the investigation except to say that the
evidence is with FDLE.However, he said the case now is centered
on "old-fashioned police work" such as interviews and following up on
tips, which once amounted to about 100 a day and now tally about 10 to
15 on a good day.Many tips duplicate previous information the
Sheriff's Office already has or offer advice on how to conduct the
investigation, Greenwood said. But when officers receive a new tip,
they investigate it, such as information about L Pond in southern
Putnam County.A letter allegedly from Kristina Prevatt, an
acquaintance of Croslin-Cummings who is being held in the Putnam County
jail on charges including drug and narcotic equipment possession, said
there had been a report that Haleigh was taken to a party where she
died from a drug overdose and then was taken to the pond. Greenwood
said officers knew about the pond before the letter. It was drained in
late September but yielded no new information about the missing girl,
the Sheriff's Office has reported.Although they had hoped there
would be answers by now, Harrison and Stevens of Byrd Housing Center
said they believe investigators are doing what they can to find Haleigh.
"I think the family needs some closure, whether it be good or bad," Harrison said.
Harrison said she wasn't surprised by the case's turn from a possible stranger
abduction to focusing on people close to the girl."I feel it was like this from the beginning," she said.

Misty Cummings, the stepmother of
missing child Haleigh Cummings, was involved in what investigators
believe was a road-rage incident in Central Florida on Wednesday. But
she was released after questioning.The Seminole County Sheriff's
Office said a driver claimed that Cummings, a passenger in a blue Dodge
Caliber with a female friend, kept gesturing and making threats on
Interstate 4 and on Maitland Avenue at about 11:15 a.m.The driver also alleges that at one point Cummings pulled out a gun.The
driver called 911 and deputies stopped Cummings and her friend after
they drove into a gas station off Lake Mary Boulevard. Deputies
initiated a felony traffic stop, in which they approached the car with
guns drawn.When officers searched the car that Cummings was in, no gun was found and eventually she was and her friend were released.

"Misty Cummings, stepmother of missing 6-year-old Haleigh Cummings, was briefly taken into police custody
Wednesday, following an incident in which she and another woman, Donna Brock, allegedly made obscene
gestures at a woman while driving on Interstate 4 in Lake Mary, Florida."

"Interestingly, a woman named Donna Brock has assisted Texas EquuSearch [TES] during searches for Haleigh,
Caylee Anthony and Kelly Currin Morris. When asked whether the Brock who was arrested with Cummings
is a member of TES, a source within the organization said that they believed they were one in the same."

Misty Croslin-Cummings will be interviewed Friday by CBS' "Early Show."The
stepmother of missing Haleigh Cummings was spotted at Orlando
International Airport today. She was headed to the New York-based show.Croslin-Cummings
was the last person to see Haleigh before the child vanished in
February. Misty will have a lot to talk about, including Ronald
Cummings' decision to seek a divorce and a road rage incident on I-4
that involved Misty.

Cummings appeared in front of a national audience for the first time
Friday morning on the CBS "Early Show."
Misty Cummings was baby-sitting Haleigh in her Satsuma home in February when the 5-year-old disappeared.On the show, Cummings said she believes the maternal side of the missing girl's family may have Haleigh.


"Someone came in and got her, obviously," Cummings, 17, told CBS' Maggie
Rodriguez. "I feel like it's on the other side of the family that has
her. That's just how I feel."She did not give details about
which of Haleigh's family members she thinks has the now-6-year-old,
but Cummings said she thinks the focus of the investigation needs to be
wider."They need to move on and look for the right person,
because they're focusing on me and I'm not the one who has Haleigh; I
don't know where she is," Cummings said. "They need to look for the
person who does have Haleigh."Cummings also explained why she feels she failed a polygraph test."I
didn't want to do the polygraph. I was supposed to do a hypnosis,
that's what I was supposed to do. Could be the reason I'm failing is
because I feel like it's my fault, because I was the last one seen with
her," Cummings said.At the time of the disappearance, Cummings'
name was Misty Croslin. She has since married Haleigh's father, Ronald
Cummings. The pair announced their intent to divorce earlier this week."He (Ronald) tells me it's just too much pressure on us right now," Misty Cummings said about the divorce.Misty Cummings said her husband does not suspect her in his daughter's disappearance."He
hasn't really said much about it, he believes me. He doesn't think I
had anything to do with Haleigh going missing," Misty Cummings said.Misty Cummings said life has been hard since becoming a suspect in the disappearance."I want everything to be back to normal. I want Haleigh home," Misty Cummings said.
