'Items Of Interest' Found In Search For Missing Girl
Hundreds Participate In Search Effort As Family Clings To Optimism
POSTED: 6:17 am EST February 13,
2009
UPDATED: 4:18 pm EST February 13,
SATSUMA, Fla. -- An
intense search on the fourth day that 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings has
been missing turned up Friday what an official called "items of
intertest."About 200 volunteers, Equusearch, 50 Florida
Department of Law Enforcement officers and 60 Department of Corrections
officers participated in the search efforts to find the Putnam County
girl.
"We're
now approaching the 80th hour that Haleigh and we're still extremely
concerned about her safety and whereabouts," Putnam County Sheriff Jeff
Hardy said.Capt. Steve Rose with the Putnam County Sheriff's
Office would not go into detail about the items found, but assured the
public during a news conference Friday afternoon that authorities
working
on the case still believe Haleigh is alive."It was a very productive,
successful day," he said. The items found will be sent to a lab in
Jacksonville for further investigation.Earlier
this week, family members of Haleigh were offered polygraph
examinations as authorities interview everyone related to the child.
Rose said those interviews are ongoing.Hardy said all 44 sex
offenders who live within the area around the home have been
interviewed and the residents have been searched and cleared."We
have actively investigated over 350 leads to date. We're not going to
limit to Putnam. We'll go wherever it takes us," Hardy said.Misty
Croslin, 17, was home when the girl disappeared. She is the girlfriend
of Haleigh's father, and took the exam. She said she would never do
anything to hurt Haleigh."I just want everyone to know that I
didn't do anything with that little girl. I love her like she's my own,
and
I'll do anything to get her back," Croslin said.Croslin said she woke
up to find the girl gone and the back door of the home propped open
with a brick.
Haleigh's
family is hanging onto their optimism.Candles signified hope for
Haleigh's loved ones. Her grandfather said he has no doubt he'll hold
her in his arms again."That
pastor over there, that man of God, he said God told him she was alive,
nearby and safe, and he's never been wrong, and if he tells you
something, you can take it to the bank," grandfather Johnny Sheffield
said."We'll do it every night at 8:30 p.m. for as long as we can," grandmother Teresa Neves said.A
familiar face joined in the search for Haleigh on Thursday. George
Anthony, the grandfather of slain toddler Caylee Anthony, showed up at
the command post to offer help and support.Rose said Equusearch
and other volunteers will be out again Saturday searching for Haleigh.
News conferences to update the public on the status of the case will be
Saturday and Sunday at 4 p.m.
"They
do not need to be judged. They do not need to be scrutinized. They need
your help," Anthony said. "The community needs to come together to help
this family and bring this beautiful little girl home. I understand it.
Some of you may not, but I understand it."The Anthonys held a memorial service on Tuesday to say goodbye to Caylee.

200 volunteers search
for missing girl

Deputies are on day four of searching for Haleigh Cummings. For the
first time, deputies are getting help from a private search team. Texas
based Equusearch gathered 200 volunteers and headed out around 9:30
a.m. Friday. > Click here for a LIVE Web cam in Satsuma
> Click here for a PHOTO GALLERY of Thursday's candelight vigil > Click here for a PHOTO GALLERY of the search Equusearch
President Tim Miller plans to focus on the wooded area behind Haleigh's
home. He could not say exactly where they would be searching because it
is under investigation. He said because Haleigh has been gone for 4
days, the chances of finding her alive were not good. Still, he remains
optimistic and has a feeling she's still alive. Searchers headed
out on horses, ATV's and bicycles. Volunteer Jim Bailey doesn't know
Haleigh's family, but felt a need to help search. "Just out of my heart
I feel sorry for the family. It's a warm feeling to help," Bailey said. He
came prepared with a hiking stick and other equipment. "This stick I
have is good for searching, scratching the ground and keeping animals
away," he added. Haleigh was last seen on Monday night at 10
p.m. in her mobile home on Green Lane in Satsuma. Investigators said
she was sleeping in the same bed as her 3-year-old brother and her
father's 17-year-old girlfriend, Mistie Croslin. When Croslin
woke up around 3:30 a.m., the same time Haleigh's father, 25-year-old
Ronald Cummings, got home from work, they realized Haleigh was gone and
called 911. Cummings said he and Mistie would never do anything
to hurt Haleigh. "She had nothing to do with this, we've both, I had
nothing to do with this," Ronald said. While investigators said
Croslin told them she was sleeping in the same bed with Haleigh and her
baby brother, Croslin told media a different story. "I put her to bed
around 8 o'clock and I woke up and she was gone and the back door was
wide open. The last time I seen her was when I put her to bed. She was
in her bed in front of the tv and me and junior was in, were in my
bed," Croslin said. Both Croslin and Cummings have taken
polygraphs. Deputies would not release the results of those tests. When
Sheriff Jeff Hardy was asked if there was a suspect, he replied, "The
world is a suspect." He says they plan to interview family members
again. When FOX 35 inquired about two two having a relationship that is
illegal because of their ages, Hardy said it was not the focus of the
investigation. Sheriff Hardy said they have been searching for
more than 88 hours and his team plans to expand his search. According
to Hardy, he went up in a helicopter and saw lots of thick and dense
areas that need to be searched. Hardy has 50 law enforcement
officers out searching. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is
also assisting. According to Hardy, the homes of 44 sex offenders in
the area have been searched. However, when asked if every single home
in the quarter mile area was searched, Hardy replied, "I can't say
every single property has been searched." When FOX News used the Jessica Lunsford case as an example, Hardy replied, "I will not compare this case to any others." Four
years, 9-year-old Jessica Lunsford was kidnapped from her Homosassa
home in the middle of the night, while her grandparents were sleeping.
Her body was discovered a few doors down, in the same home where
deputies knocked earlier, but didnt go inside. At that time convicted
sex offender John Couey was hiding Jessica in a closet. Investigators
say he kidnapped, raped and buried Jessica alive under the front door
step. Couey was sentenced to death. Florida Department of Law
Enforcement (FDLE) Special Agent Dominick Pape says the FDLE is
assisting in lab work. Neither Pape or Hardy would say what they were
testing. While Hardy says he's had 350 leads, when FOX 35 asked if any
of them were good leads, he wouldn't comment. Haleigh is 3 feet
tall and weighs 39 lbs. She has blonde hair and brown eyes. Anyone with
information should call the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. Anyone interested in volunteering with Equusearch should go to 194 E. Buffalo Bluff Road in Satsuma.

Murt rolls on now with the Haleigh case???
crimeseekers is reporting that beaconhell is reporting (sources) that Murt is riding again! According to CS Murt was ASKED to come by LP???? I don't visit murt anymore, haven't since the "suicide" incident so dont know much more than what is here...if anyone goes to Murts site now might get more info on the poor childs case...
Per BH: " I am not a happy camper at all. I have just been advised that Murt has supposedly gone to Satsuma with the hoopty news van and a motor home. From what I was told, he did do the right thing with the $500 from the Mt. Dora bench money, as he said he is going to donate to TES for search efforts, but other than that WHY is he going up there? There is NO reason for him to be in Putnam County; nor is there reason for him to stick his nose into yet another missing child case.
I am asking everyone that reads here to start contacting the local media and Sheriff’s office up there and tell them about Murt and his history of inserting himself into cases and using the missing child as a bankroll. I do hope that once Josh Duckett sets his eyes on ol’ Murt that he tells him a thing or twenty and tells him to get his ass out of Dodge. You remember Josh, don’t ya Murt? The father that you LIED to that you were a US Marshall and that his son would be returned on January 12th? Freakin’ piece of crap that he is. Every time I think of how he toyed with that family’s emotions, I could just spit.
Please contact the press - contact local law enforcement. Contact national media if you have to, but Murt needs to GO HOME!!!"

She hasn't logged in since 911....and lots of underage girls lie about their age on MySpace, I'm just saying....
It may say she's 19 because she had to fudge her age when she originally signed up by a couple of years if she was technically too young.
As for not signing in since Sept. maybe that's the last time she was in the school library and had access to the Internet. I know - I'm putting myself in the corner!

SEXUAL PREDATOR MISSING
OCALA - Marion County sheriff's deputies are looking for a sexual predator who has been missing since Feb. 1.
Deputies say Chad Eugene Reynolds, 25, left his mother's home at 3
Bay Court Run in Ocklawaha on that Sunday to watch the Super Bowl at a
local bar. That was the last time anyone reported seeing him."We're
handling it like any missing and endangered person. We're concerned for
his safety because his mother said he hasn't done anything like this
before," sheriff's Capt. Tommy Bibb said.At this time, he stressed, finding Reynolds out of concern for his safety is their focus. If
found, however, Reynolds will likely be arrested for violation of
probation because he hasn't reported to his probation officer. Also,
in light of the search in Putnam County for missing 5-year-old Haleigh
Cummings, Maj. Chris Blair said the Marion County Sheriff's Office has
contacted the Putnam Sheriff's Office about the missing sexual predator.According
to the Florida Department of Corrections Web site, Reynolds was
sentenced in Putnam County to seven years in prison for armed burglary
and lewd and lascivious molestation of a child younger than 12. The
offense date was Sept. 3, 2002.He was released in November 2008 and is currently on 10 years of community supervision. The
missing man's mother, Debora Reynolds, told deputies he had borrowed a
vehicle from a woman by the name of Amy Baker and drove it from the
bar. Reynolds' mother told deputies his license is suspended.Chad Reynolds reportedly called Baker and told her he was at the Wal-Mart in Summerfield and that the vehicle had broken down.By
the time Baker got there, Reynolds had gone. Baker later found her
vehicle in Sumter County along U.S. 441. Baker told deputies the last
time she spoke to Reynolds was 2:15 a.m. the following Monday. Five
minutes after that call, Reynolds called his mother's home but did not
leave a message. On Feb. 3, a man identified only as "Ryan" told
deputies he received a call from Reynolds; however, he did not speak
with him because the phone was disconnected as soon as he said hello.Deputies
contacted Reynolds' place of employment, Longhorn Steakhouse restaurant
in Sumter County, and was told by the manager that Reynolds had not
reported to work for two days.Reynolds' mother said her son is a
registered sexual predator and that he's required to report at her
address every day. Concerned for his safety, she called the Sheriff's
Office on Feb. 5 to report that he was missing.Anyone with information can call the Sheriff's Office at 732-9111 or Crime Stoppers at 368-STOP, or visit www.ocalacrimestoppers.com.

away," he added.
Kiwi, is it just me or is that a lot of predators in one area? I mean 44 within 5 miles? I think LE needs to be looking into this more than they are. JMO

Search yields no sign of Haleigh Cummings
SATSUMA - Two hundred and fifty volunteers scoured rural Putnam County for signs of Haleigh Cummings, but they failed to find anything suspicious, a Putnam County Sheriff's official said at a televised news conference Saturday afternoon.
Investigators have also determined that several objects they deemed "items of interest" that were found by searchers Friday are not related to Haleigh's disappearance, Chief Deputy Rick Ryan said at the news conference.
Volunteers and law enforcement will continue their search efforts on Sunday, but officials are suspending their dive searches in the nearby St. Johns River, Ryan said.
It's been some five days since Haleigh was reported missing. She was last seen in her father's Satsuma trailer about 10 p.m. Monday. Ryan said that investigators are still hopeful they will find her.

Okay, this question has nothing to do
with
caylee but with Haleigh's father and Im putting it on here because I
see this is where people are right now.
His GF is 17 years old, why is
he not in jail. Pls read this article and tell me what is the
difference between this article and Haleigh's father?

A New Port Richey man faces charges of unlawful sex with a minor after allegedly having intercourse multiple times with a 17-year-old female.
Paul Anthony Herndon, 31, of 77901 Rusty Oak Drive, was arrested Friday morning by the Pasco Count Sheriff's Office.
Herndon told deputies he and the 17-year-old female had had consensual sex a dozen times since her birthday last fall. He told deputies he didn't realize he was doing something illegal until two weeks ago.
Herndon, who is unemployed, remains in the Land O' Lakes Jail on $10,000 bond.

‘Items of interest’ yield no clues to Haleigh’s disappearance
(4:21 p.m.) The “items of interest” found Friday in the area near missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings’ home near Satsuma turned out to yield no clues, investigators said during Saturday’s 4 p.m. news conference.
Still, “We are as optimistic now as we were on Day 1 that we will find her ... alive. That’s our goal.,” said Rick Ryan, undersheriff for the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
