Tampa, Florida - A parent burying a child goes against nature. It is
quite possibly one of the most painful events a mother or father could
ever experience.
New Tampa parents Moncef and Najet Bouazizi know this all too well.
Sadly, they are going through unspeakable grief after losing their
little boy, Mujeeb, on Sunday.
The child was found upside down in a five-gallon bucket containing cleaning fluids around 12:45 p.m. Mujeeb drowned in five inches of fluid that collected at the bottom.
The family relies on a housekeeper to help with their seven children.
Neighbors say that the housekeeper accidentally left the cleaning fluid
in the garage.
Mujeeb wandered inside, and possibly in an effort to help clean the
house, he tried to move the bucket and ended up falling inside.
Jodi Pecoraro, a neighbor, said, "He was a happy little fella, he
liked the carry out the trash, he liked to help. I think he may have
been trying to help yesterday."
The one-year-old little boy did, indeed, love helping others. He was
eager and happy to be with his five brothers and one sister. His sister,
in fact, was his twin and the only girl in the family.
The children are well-behaved, neighbors say, and never caused any
problems. Little Mujeeb, especially, they claim was always wrapping his
arms around his neighbor's neck and showering her with kisses.
After the family found the toddler in the garage, they called 911,
and Tampa Police officers rushed to the home on Layton Court in New
Tampa.
Tampa Police officers tried everything they could to revive the child, but the toddler was gone.
Pecoraro added, "They zoomed in so fast that the sound of their car,
not the siren, but the screeching, the brakes screeching, that got
everyone's attention."
Little Mujeeb was then rushed to University Community Hospital. Doctors pronounced him dead in the emergency room.
The child's parents were devastated. Mocef Bouazizi was sobbing as he got out of his truck on Monday morning.
He told 10 News, "We do our best, I love my kids to death, I come home from work every day to check on my kids."
Pecoraro said, "This is a good family. They are good parents. They are
very conscientious people. We don't ever want them to leave because
they are such good neighbors."
Moncef Bouazizi and his wife are from Tunisia. They have lived in this home, neighbors say, for seven years.
Tampa Police officers were emotionally affected by what they saw on Sunday as they tried to save Mujeeb.
Tampa Police spokesperson, Andrea Davis, said. "It's very easy to sit
on the outside and say, 'This would never happen to me,' but that's why
they call it an accident."
Tampa police say it's rare to see an accident like this, and they
will continue to investigate. However, no charges are expected to be
filed.
Davis added, "Accidents happen, they happen to everyone. Fortunately,
we don't see accidents like this every day, but obviously when we do,
it brings a lot of emotion to people."
