A 13-year-old boy has been accused of killing his sister because her crying interrupted
a video game he was playing.
Crystian Rivera is alleged to have shaken his nine-month-old sister so hard she
suffered a serious brain injury and fractured skull.

The Oklahoma teen allegedly told police he was angry because the baby's cries
distracted him from his game and caused his character to die.

She had started crying after falling over in their family apartment, the
affidavit said. After violently shaking the infant, named Linda Walleska
Beletzuy, he told police he put her back in her cot so he could
continue to play on his console.
An arrest report revealed that Rivera said his sister continued to cry and eventually fell asleep.
His parents discovered the seriously injured child when they returned home from work and rushed the baby to hospital.
Rivera was initially arrested on a child abuse charge, but this was
upgraded to murder after the infant died on August 19th.
Police had first been called to the Deaconess Children’s hospital in Oklahoma
City because the baby's injuries did not match the explanation offered by the parents.
The baby girl had a skull fracture with blood clots that were compressing
her brain. Doctors concluded the injuries were caused from her being violently shaken.
The baby's mother told investigators the infant had fallen off the bed at their home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
She also said the baby fell from the passenger seat of their vehicle to the
floorboard a few days before - but denied being present either time when her daughter fell.
After doctors said the baby's injuries were not consistent with an accidental
fall detectives spoke with two other children in the home.
The baby's parents then told police Rivera was left to look after the baby for
more than six hours while they were both at work.
Police Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow said Rivera was arrested on a child abuse complaint,
but later taken to the Oklahoma County jail and booked on a murder complaint after the girl died.
She is being held without bond and is being treated as an adult in this case.
Wardlow said the parents are not being investigated for any wrongdoing.
'There is nothing illegal about leaving a child in the care of a 13-year-old,' Wardlow said.
'They had no idea this was going to happen. They were not arrested, and we don't anticipate that.'

OKLAHOMA CITY -- A 13-year-old boy accused of killing his nine-month-old sister faced a judge Wednesday morning.

Crystian Rivera was arraigned in an Oklahoma City courtroom just before noon Wednesday. Oklahoma City detectives say Rivera confessed to shaking his sister, Linda Beletzuy, when she interrupted the video game he was playing. The baby later died at the hospital from her injuries.

Rivera was formally charged with first-degree murder September 2.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Charges have been filed against the parents of a teenager accused of killing his baby sister.
Linda Walleska Beletzuy and Carlos Eluzahi Beletzuy-Lopez have been accused of child neglect in connection with the August death of their daughter. Crystian Rivera, 13, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of his 9-month-old sister.
Rivera told police he was playing video games when his baby sister fell and started to cry. Rivera told officers that he became angry and frustrated when his character in the video game he was playing was killed. He picked up the girl and shook her, according to a police report.
Rivera then went back to playing video games as the child cried and eventually fell asleep.
Court documents indicated the child was treated at Children's Hospital for a severe brain injury and skull fracture. She died on Aug. 19.
