DESTINY DAVENPORT - 2 Months (2010) - Crossville/Chattanooga TN

A Cumberland County father is charged with killing his baby girl.

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, William Allen
Davenport, 39, of 132 Buck Creek Road, Crossville, was indicted on one
count of felony murder and one count of aggravated child abuse by the
Cumberland County Grand Jury on Thursday.


On November 12, 2010, investigators say Davenport called Cumberland
County 911 to report that his two-month-old daughter, Destiny Davenport,
was not breathing. She was transported to Erlanger Hospital in
Chattanooga and died three days later.

Both medical personnel at the hospital and the autopsy indicated the infant died from abuse.

The TBI investigated Destiny's death with the Cumberland County
Sheriff's Office and the 13th Judicial District Attorney General's
Office.

On Thursday, Davenport was booked into the Cumberland County Jail on $750,000 bond.

CROSSVILLE —
A Crossville area man has been indicted by the Cumberland County Grand
Jury on felony murder and aggravated child abuse in connection with the
death of a child, according to court records and confirmed by the
District Attorney's Office.

William Allen Davenport, no age or address available, was arrested
Thursday following his indictment and was placed under $750,000 bond.
Arraignment has been set for Sept. 23 in Criminal Court.

Not much is known about the case other than information found in the two-count indictment.

Count one charges that on or about the day of Nov. 12, 2010, it is
alleged that serious bodily injury was inflicted on the infant girl, who
was about two-months old, resulting in the aggravated child abuse
charge.

The second count states that on that same day, the injuries inflicted
on the infant proved to be fatal, resulting in the child's death five
days later.
