October 3, 2011 - Sontiago Salazar is a 16-year-old boy from Welland who went missing on the weekend.

Neither his mother Beatrice Lopez nor sister Juliana Salazar have seen him since Saturday morning after he left to go to the Niagara Food Festival with friends.

"He was supposed to be home around 10 p.m.," Lopez said. "I became worried that same night, it's not like him to stay out all night."

Niagara Regional Police are investigating the matter, but NRP spokesman Const. Sal Basilone said the boy's disappearance is not suspicious.

"They've been working this case all day, from investigators to uniformed officers out in the street following up leads," he said. "He is definitely a person we want to locate and tell the family."

Sontiago was last seen wearing a black hat, orange sweater and green plaid shorts.

Anyone who knows Sontiago's whereabouts is asked to call police at 905-735-7811 ext. 3300.
