Strangled Newborn Boy found in Store Garbage Can - Streamwood/ NW Chicago IL
A Saturday autopsy determined an infant boy found in a
garbage can at a northwest suburban Salvation Army store Friday
afternoon was strangled.
The baby died of strangulation and the
death was ruled a homicide, according to a spokesman for the Cook County
Medical Examiner’s office.
Streamwood police and paramedics
responded to a call from the Salvation Army store in the 1000 block of
South Barrington Road after the infant boy was found unresponsive, a
release from Streamwood police said.
The infant, which appeared to
be full-term newborn, was found in the trash receptacle of a public
washroom and was pronounced dead on the scene, the release said. He was
18-inches long, the release said.
Police believe the mother gave
birth between 10:15 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Friday in the washroom and may
have entered the store with another woman and child, the release said.
Authorities
are asking anyone who may have seen the mother -- described as a
5-feet-1 to 5-feet-4 Hispanic woman between the ages of 14 and 25 -- to
call police. She is thin with dark brown hair worn in a pony-tail, the
release said. She was wearing a purple hooded sweatshirt, dark
sweatpants, a lime green jacket, suede boots and had a large purple or
red purse with her, the release said.
Anyone who has information should call the Investigations Division at (630) 736-3700 or the Crime Tip Line at (630) 736-3719.

Infant Found Strangled in Garbage Can
An infant was found strangled to death in the bathroom of a Salvation
Army in Chicago. A composite sketch has been issued by the police in
hopes of finding the woman who is responsible for this horrendous
incident.
The woman's identity isn't known,
but workers at the Salvation Army knew something was up when the woman
seemed in distress when she locked herself in the bathroom. When the
woman left, workers entered the bathroom and found blood on the floor;
that's when they discovered the infant in the garbage can.
The deceased baby boy was wrapped in plastic and still had the umbilical
cord attached to it. Detectives say that it's apparent the child was
born alive and then strangled with the very plastic bag in which it was
disposed like common garbage.
Aside from the fact that this woman
needs medical attention, she needs to be brought on charges. The state
of Illinois has a "Safe Haven" law, which makes it possible for mothers
to safely hand over their children at any hospital, fire department or
police department as long as the infant is under 30 days old. There is
absolutely no excuse for anyone to do what this mystery woman did; and
hopefully someone knows her, and knows that she was pregnant, and has
seen this article or other media coverage of the strange case. She needs
to be brought in and she needs to be punished for the murder of an
infant that could've gone to a wonderful, loving home. She stole the
life away from a child and for what? Because this moron doesn't know how
to keep her legs closed, doesn't know how to use protection or
generally doesn't give a damn that there are Safe Haven laws designed
for these situations.
