Teen missing from Jasper home
JASPER, N.Y. -- A family in Jasper is making a public push to bring their 18-year-old son home.
Nieko Lisi has been missing since September 30th. Lisi is 5-foot-10. He has
dark brown hair, brown eyes and three tattoos on his arm and ribs.
State Police believe he left of his own free will, but want to make sure he's
okay. He's been spotted in Michigan and Tennessee and police in both
states are helping with the investigation.
"He's 18. He's able to leave. He is an adult. But we certainly are concerned about his welfare.
We're looking to see if he can be located and returned home," said New
York State Police public information officer Mike O'Donnell.
"In 18 years, there has not been a 24 hour period where someone in our
family did not know where he was. And he has not contacted anyone that
we know," said Lisi's mother, Monica Button.
The family will hold a candlelight vigil for Lisi this Sunday at 5 p.m. It will be in Hornell across from the Post Office.
If you have any information Lisi's whereabouts, you're asked to call police at (607) 962-6865.

Re: NIEKO LISI - 18 yo - Jasper (nr PA border; W of Corning) NY
More than four months after an Addison teen disappeared almost without a trace, his family is still searching for answers -- and holding out hope.
Nieko Lisi, 18, was last seen in the area Sept. 30, then reportedly left with Robert Knight, a friend who is a few years older.
Knight died in Michigan less than two weeks later, and family members are hitting dead ends everywhere they turn for information about Lisi's whereabouts.
"For him to disappear off the face of the earth is not in his character," said Lisi's mother, Monica Button.
"We don't know where to start to look for him. There are absolutely no solid leads whatsoever. I have a private investigator involved. And unfortunately, she's not really coming up with more than we do on a daily basis ourselves."
Lisi told family members that he and Knight were going to Buffalo to meet some girls they met on the Internet, Button said.
But Knight ended up at his father's house in Michigan and died of a possible overdose about 10 days after Lisi disappeared, she said.
Knight's father and other family members said they had not seen Lisi, Button said.
The only other lead pointed to Tennessee, where Lisi lived for a year in 2009 and still has friends.
"He had fostered friendships with people in the Franklin/Nashvillle area. I retrieved his contact list from his phone," Button said.
"There were names and phone numbers for 265 people and I called every one.
"I got a call back from a young man in Tennessee," she said.
"He told me Nieko had been at his house in early October. He came there and spent the night. They played soccer and the next day, he got up and Nieko was gone."
Button also contacted the police about her son's disappearance.
State police investigator Marci Trimble, of the Bath barracks, has been working on the case, but doesn't have much to go on.
"If anybody has information, they can call. I would appreciate that," Trimble said.
"Any leads I do get, we look into them. I can't say we've had no leads. The case hasn't gone completely cold. I do get people who have called in."
Trimble said she can't speculate about Lisi's fate at this point.
Lisi had some trouble with the law in the months before his disappearance, and that could have contributed to his decision to leave, Button said.
He was incarcerated on a burglary charge and also had a rape charge pending for reportedly having sex with an underage girl, his mother said.
"He was devastated over that. He talked with me and said 'Mom, I will never walk the face of the earth and have someone call me a rapist. I'll kill myself first,'" Button said.
"It set him on a downward spiral. Nieko was never indicted on the charges. He had a (court) appearance Oct. 15, and we figured the charges would be reduced or dropped.
"All of a sudden, he had Robby Knight there with him. I didn't like that," she said.
"Nieko said 'You can't pick my friends for me.' Then my son disappeared."
There is one bright spot in Lisi's tale.
An Addison boy, 10-year-old Jaret Mahnke, learned of Lisi's disappearance and decided he wanted to help.
Jaret began collecting returnable bottles and cans and turned the deposit money over to Button -- someone he had never met -- to put toward a reward fund.
"Thank God for people like him. They get me through the day," Button said.
"We're collecting more (cans) and we have a lot. And people keep dropping them off," Jaret said.
"We want to raise at least $100. We just saw the posters and thought it would be a good thing. We'll keep doing it."
In the meantime, Button tries to stay positive about her son's fate, but she also needs answers -- even if they aren't the answers she hopes for.
"I think bad one minute and the next minute I hope he's on the beach in Mexico. I just want him to be OK," she said.
"All I want is a phone call. If he calls me and says 'Mom, I don't ever want to see you guys again,' I wouldn't like it or understand, but I could deal with it.
"I need something," Button said.
"If he's been in an accident somewhere or someone has done something to him, I want to know where my son is so that I can move forward. I need to know if something bad has happened to him."

Bring Them Home Now-Where is Nieko Lisi? A MUST hear!
by Bring Them Home Now
Wed, February 22, 2012
One of the most BIZARRE cases we have ever brought you here, at BRING THEM HOME NOW!
Where is Nieko Lisi?
That’s the question his family, friends and the New York State Police have agonized over for four months. Lisi, 18, of Jasper, disappeared without a trace in early October, and his family fears he may be dead. “I truly think something has happened to him,” his aunt, Rachael Davis, said. “I don’t believe that he is among us anymore.”The circumstances surrounding Lisi’s disappearance are puzzling, and there are few solid theories to explain what may have happened, those close to him say. Lisi was last seen by a family member Sept. 30 in Addison. An uncle saw him around 2 p.m. that day. Lisi was with a friend, 20-year-old Robbie Knight. This PUZZLING case has MANY missing pieces.
