A candlelight vigil is scheduled Saturday evening in response to the June death of a 9-month-old Reno boy at his baby sitter's home.
Keia Guia told the Reno Gazette-Journal that she's asking people to unite at the vigil to demand justice for her son, Elijah, and raise awareness about child abuse.
He died June 2 after his 31-year-old mother had dropped him and two siblings off a few hours earlier with a baby sitter. The sitter said he stopped breathing.
Police say they'll finalize an investigation into the toddler's death in the next few weeks, then send the case to Washoe County prosecutors for review.
Guia moved to Reno with her children from Las Vegas in May.
The vigil will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday outside Reno Justice Court.
