MIDDLE TOWNSHIP — The Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office will announce a new reward for information about the 1991 disappearance of Middle Township resident Mark Himebaugh

Himebaugh was 11 when he disappeared after leaving his Del Haven, Middle Township, home to play on Nov. 22, 1991.



Hundreds of volunteers combed the township in search of the boy. They found a white sneaker believed to be his on the beach near his home. The child had broken his foot six weeks earlier and sometimes complained that wearing shoes hurt.

Despite a multistate investigation, police found few clues about Himebaugh’s disappearance.

The Prosecutor’s Office, Middle Township police, the FBI and the State Police are continuing to pursue this missing-persons case.

Private supporters through the boy’s family have offered numerous rewards over the years for information about the case. The details of the new reward will be released Wednesday, police Capt. John Edwards said.
