Update: 3-Year-Old Boy Critically Injured After His Stroller Was Hit By a Car

REDDING, Calif. -- A Redding toddler is in critical condition after he was hit by a car. Redding Police say the mother pushing the stroller was drunk.

It happened just after 8 p.m. Thursday on Eureka Way near Overhill Drive.

Police said Michelle Dawn Sudeta, 25, was walking with her 8 and 9 year old daughters, and pushing her 3-year-old son in a stroller.

The two girls sensed the danger and told their mother not to cross the dark street.

Sudeta continued into traffic and a car hit the stroller, ejecting the boy.

The boy was taken by helicopter to U.C. Davis with several fractures. On Friday he was listed in critical condition.

Further investigation revealed that Sudeta was intoxicated. Police said the family is homeless and had been living in a tent near the area. KRCR Newschannel 7 found a camp in a greenbelt near the accident scene.

Sudeta has been booked into the Shasta County Jail on felony child endangerment. The children were taken into protective custody.

How sad. I wonder how long the family has been homeless and living on the streets. Aren't their organizations that help families? Those poor kids. I hope the baby boy makes it.
