Missing woman left to meet man she met online

SANDRA LEMIRE-47yo-Orlando FL 389259_290048314421773_172181486208

ORLANDO, Fla. —
An Orlando woman was reported missing after leaving to see a man she met through an online dating service, authorities said.
Police
said 47-year-old Sandra Lemire was last seen on Tuesday when she left
her home on Windward Court in Orlando to meet the man.
Lemire's grandmother Pauline Varner said she is worried.
"It's like the longer you wait, the worse it seems to you," Varner said.
Police said there is nothing to indicate that Lemire is in immediate danger.
Authorities
said Lemire was driving a 2004 red Ford Freestyle van with a Florida
tag number J368ZE, when she left her home to go on a date at a Kissimmee
McDonald's.
"Just going to have a cup of coffee and talk and get acquainted," Varner said.
Varner said Lemire told her the man's name was Joe, but that's the only detail she gave.
She called her grandmother when she got to Kissimmee and said she'd call again when she left, Varner said.
But that call never came and Lemire has been missing ever since.
Orlando
police told WFTV they've interviewed the man she was going to meet.
They said his story checks out and he's not a suspect.
Family members said Lemire has met men online before and hadn't told them about any problems.
Police
said they have no reason to believe she's in danger, but Varner said
her granddaughter has never run away before and always keeps in touch.
"Absolutely
everybody is just very, very concerned with it. And, you can't even
think we don't want to think what's happening," Varner said.
Lemire's family said she is diabetic, but left her insulin at her grandmother's house where she was staying.
Varner said she fears something has gone terribly wrong.
"She
did not take her insulin with her cause it's still in the refrigerator.
I don't want to think about it, so I've turned it off," Varner said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Orlando police.

Man interviewed in Orlando woman's disappearance

ORLANDO, Fla. -

Orlando
police continue to search for a woman who vanished after going to meet a
man she met online, but they say they don't believe he's involved with
her disappearance.
Police
said Sandra Lemire, 47, left her home on Windward Court around 9 p.m.
Tuesday to meet the man at the McDonalds, where he worked, in Kissimmee
near Old Town. She was driving a red 2004 Ford Freestyle van with a
Florida license tag reading J36-8ZE.
Pauline
Varner, Lemire's grandmother, says Lemire told her she went to meet a
man named "Joe," who she believes Lemire met online, for coffee. Police
said the man was interviewed and told police they met up and went their
separate ways. Police said they believe his story.

According
to two Facebook pages Local 6 found, Lemire filled out a profile for
Speeddate.com in October 2011. Another Facebook page shows updates and
potential matches from Speeddate.com, but shows no recent activity.
Varner was worried because because her granddaughter is a diabetic and doesn't have her insulin with her.
"It's
very difficult because you just don't know, and it's not a good thing. I
just hope she's alright," said Varner. "She told me she would call me
when she got down there and she did, then she said she'd call me when
she got ready to come back and I said 'OK fine,' but that never
happened."
Varner said her granddaughter, a mother of three, never disappears for hours or days at a time without telling her.
It's just not like her because if she goes to the store she says I'll be back in an hour and she's back in an hour."
Lemire is described as 5 feet 4 inches tall and 130 pounds with blond hair.
When asked what police think happened, Sgt. Vince Ogburn of Orlando Police Department said they're puzzled.
"That's
the mystery. We don't know," Ogburn said. "We're just wanting anyone to
call us if they see the van so we can get her side of the story as to
why she doesn't want to be found."
Varner said Lemire has gone out with people she's met online before, but usually introduces them to Varner first.
Anyone with information about her whereabouts is urged to call the Orlando Police Department at 321-235-5300.

This case seems to have gone cold immediately! No updates, no searches reported, and doesn't seem to have any interest to the media. JMO The circumstances are very fishy but police seem to take a different view.

Sandra Lemire: Orlando woman's disappearance called suspicious

06/09/2012
More than 30 days after his daughter vanished, Robert Varner said he
is relieved that police have finally deemed Sandra Lemire's
disappearance suspicious.
"It makes me feel a little bit better," he said. "I think they're taking it a little more serious now."
Varner
said he has been in close contact with detectives at the Orlando Police
Department in the four weeks since his 47-year-old daughter went
missing.

"I think they're doing a good
job," he said adding that at this point he just wants one thing — to
know what happened to his daughter.
Lemire lived with her grandmother Pauline Varner in an Orlando subdivision near Interstate 4 and John Young Parkway before she vanished May 8.
Lemire,
who helped care for her grandmother, left the home in Varner's red 2004
Ford Freestar to meet a man she met online and never came back.
Police interviewed the man and they ruled him out as a suspect.
The two met at a restaurant in Kissimmee where he works before his overnight shift began.
Police
have not released the man's name but Robert Varner said investigators
have told the family that surveillance video from the restaurant showed
that he stayed at work for several hours after Lemire left.
Since then, there's been no sign of the woman or the van, which had this Florida tag: J36-8ZE.
Both Robert and Pauline Varner say they are most worried about Lemire's health. She is a diabetic and they say she left home that night without her needles or insulin, something they say she would never have done if she planned to leave town.
"If she said she was going shopping and would be back in an hour, she would be back in an hour," Pauline Varner said.
