$1M bonds set in death of 4-year-old boy

The mother accused of killing her 4-year-old son was arraigned in Dayton
Municipal Court on Monday and for the first time since the incident, the
child’s father spoke out about the case.
“You feel like dying,” said 29-year-old Reginald Ayson. “You feel like you could have done something.”
Police were sent to 19 Five Oaks Ave. on Friday afternoon after being told the
child, Alonza Lenoir, had fallen down a flight of stairs. Alonza was
pronounced dead at Dayton Children's Medical Center. Police said they
quickly determined the incident was suspicious.
Ayson does not live at the address.
“Sometimes I thought she hit him a little too hard,” he said of Heaven Lenoir, the
mother. “I never thought it would go to this extent.”
According to police Sgt. Larry Tolpin, the child “was bruised head to toe,” which indicated “long-term physical abuse.”
Heaven Lenoir, 25, and her boyfriend, 29-year-old Matthew D. Henderson, were
arrested on charges of felony permitting child abuse. On Sunday, a
charge of murder was added for Lenoir.
A judge on Monday set bond for Lenoir and
Henderson at $1 million each. Both have preliminary hearings scheduled
for July 9. Attorneys are to be appointed for each defendant.
Ayson and Lenoir also have a 2-year-old girl together.
He said Alonza loved the television show “SpongeBob SquarePants” and
Spider-Man. Ayson aims to set up a memorial fund at PNC Bank to raise
money for his son's funeral.
Family members are supporting Ayson
as he struggles to understand why he will never see his only son grow
up. The victim’s aunt said Heaven Lenoir was violent and witnessed her
hit her children before.
An autopsy to determine the cause of death is pending.

The second death reported on both of these articles is completely separate from Alonza'S death. Why these 2 deaths are being lumped together on both news sources is a complete mystery to me.

Two indicted in the death of 4-year-old

DAYTON — Two adults arrested in the slaying of a 4-year-old boy were indicted Monday on felony charges, with the boy’s mother charged with murder.

Heaven Lenoir, 25, was also charged with three counts of endangering children. Her boyfriend, Matthew D. Henderson, 29, was charged with one count of endangering children.

The charges pertain to the June 29 death of Alonza Lenoir. Police were sent to the Lenoir home, 19 Five Oaks Ave., after being told the child had fallen down a flight of stairs. The boy was pronouced dead at Children’s Medical Center.

Police have reported that they quickly determined the incident was suspicious. According to Dayton police Sgt. Larry Tolpin, the child “was bruised head to toe,” which indicated “long-term physical abuse.”

Lenoir and Henderson have remained in the Montgomery County Jail since their arrests June 29.

boy's mother, 24-year-old Heaven Lenoir stood silent as her attorney
entered a not guilty plea to murder and child endangering charges.

Dayton Police say 4-year-old Alonza Lenoir died on June 29 from injuries inflicted by blunt force trauma.

Lenoir's bond remains at $1 million.
