DAYTON, Ohio —
Dayton police investigators are looking into two suspicious deaths reported on Friday involving children.
The first case was recorded around 1 p.m., and the victim was a 2-month-old boy.
Dustin Gard, 21, was arrested in connection with the death of his 2-month-old
son. Police found the child unresponsive in 1600 block of Suman Avenue
after a report of a child who was not breathing.
Gard was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on an initial charge of felony child
endangering pending autopsy results, according to Dayton Police Lt. Wendy Stiver.
Gard has twice been arrested before for domestic violence, according to Montgomery County Jail records.
In 2009, Gard was charged with disorderly conduct but allowed to plead
guilty to a lesser charge of disorderly conduct. He was placed on two
years probation, according to Montgomery County Municipal Court records.
In 2010, he was charged with domestic violence, but the charge was dismissed, according to Vandalia Municipal Court records.
