Police say missing woman is endangered

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) - A woman who has not been heard from since September 1 may be endangered, according to police.
Police
say Kathleen Hayley, 37, last spoke to her family on September 1 and
has not been seen since August 22. A missing persons report was filed on
September 7.
Haley may be endangered because she has not been
seen or heard from her since September 1. Her vehicle has been parked at
her residence and has not been moved and items from her home are
missing, according to a press release from Newport News police.

NEWS — Police searched the apartment of Kathleen Haley after her family
reported her missing, and they found her entire bed was missing. And
there were more details noted in court documents.
A section of carpet had been cut out and removed.
A substance thought to be blood was found on a wall.

Foul play suspected in the disappearance of Kathleen Haley

Kathleen Haley, 37, of Virginia
was reported missing by her family September 7. Haley’s sister, Diane
Roman, told police that she last spoke to Haley on September 1. Haley
told her sister that she would stop by for dinner that night, but never
showed up.

On September 18, Newport News police searched
Haley’s apartment after her family reported her missing. Upon gaining
entrance to Haley’s apartment, police found the entire bed was missing, a
section of carpet had been cut out and removed, Haley’s computer
missing and a substance thought to be blood found on the wall. Several
pairs of rubber gloves and cleaning supplies were also found in the
bathroom.

After inspection of Haley’s apartment police believe there is more to the case than a missing person.

Police collected 17 swabs of "suspected blood" from the apartment's walls, bedroom and near the kitchen, a search warrant states.

Haley lived in an apartment in downtown Newport News.
On September 4, a man was seen using a key to gain entrance to Haley’s
apartment. The same man was seen walking down the stairs with an armful
of something rolled up, possibly bed sheets, the affidavit states.
Police believe this individual may have information pertinent to Haley’s
disappearance.

Jesus Roman, Haley’s brother-in-law, told police that Haley always
locked her car doors, but when they checked her car they found it
unlocked. Roman went on to state that Haley was 4 feet, 11 inches tall
and the driver’s seat of her vehicle was pushed all the way back.

Don't know how close that composite is but pray someone will recognize it.

This surely is a strange case (and her last name is spelled differently on this poster).  This is the only other picture I found of "Kathy" and since neither is dated it is difficult to tell which one is recent- wouldn't you think the poster would have the current one?.  Her family didn't even know where she worked (did she give a lift to a co-worker who drove her car), no mention of missing work or last day there or who else may have spoken to or seen her, and no more information on what was found at her apartment besides gloves, blood and cleaning agents.  Any DNA?  Fingerprints or shoe prints in her car? Nothing.  Maybe she worked for the government?  Very sad.  There are still 25 missing women from The Hampton Roads area going back to 1977
