Police: Man Hog-Ties 4-Year-Old, Shoots Her 36 Times With BB Gun
January 28, 2013 9:33 AM
LYNNWOOD, Wash. (CBS Seattle) — A man is accused of hog-tying his 4-year-old stepdaughter with zip ties and duct tape and shooting her with a BB gun 36 times.
Snohomish County authorities tell KIRO-TV that 26-year-old Stetson Tedder tied up and shot the young girl as punishment for having a dirty room and for waking him up early.
The alleged abuse came to light after the girl’s grandmother took the girl to the hospital because she thought her granddaughter had chicken pox.
According to KCPQ-TV, the girl told her grandmother that Tedder shot her dozens of times with an airsoft gun and that he had “hog-tied” her arms behind her back.
“She was restrained and shot upwards of two or three dozen times,” Snohomish County deputy prosecutor Adam Cornell told KCPQ-TV. “She obviously suffered harm from what has happened. The suspect was in a position of trust with this young child.”
A nurse at Providence Regional Medical Center called authorities after noticing 36 red marks on the girl’s back.
Tedder told authorities that he did hog-tie his stepdaughter to restrain her, but that it was her brother that shot her with the BB gun.
The Daily Herald reports that the girl also said that Tedder made her sit with her back against the wall without a chair and pick up her room with her teeth.
The girl’s mother reportedly left the room when Tedder would punish her, KCPQ-TV reports.
Neighbors were shocked at the allegations.
“I have never seen or even thought there was any abuse involved,” Deborah Tapia told KCPQ-TV. “If i was ever suspicious of anything like that, I would have reported it.”
Tedder has been charged with second-degree assault and had his bail set at $25,000. The little girl was placed with a relative while other siblings in the house were taken in by Child Protective Services.

Sad for the girl, my heart broke when I read this. Fortunately she's not hurt too bad. I would die for a little girl. I would give her all my love from my heart and soul even if she's a stepdaughter. I just don't see why some people treat children this way. At least she will get some justice. I do think the mother should be charged in this case. William
