A Manhattan mom apparently at the end of her rope dumped her 8-year-old son on a street corner with $4 in his pocket and took off, authorities said Thursday.

“You always wanted me to go away,” Natasha Harrow said in court papers. “I'll go away.”

For two hours, little Elijah Harrow wandered alone in the dark on the busy Upper East Side, waiting for his mom to come back, sources said.

Police were notified after a pair of good-hearted passersby spotted the boy standing forlornly on the southwest corner of First Ave. and E. 86th St., they said.

By then, Elijah’s mom was long gone and it wasn’t until two weeks later that cops caught up with her.

Now Harrow, who lives on E. 93rd St., is charged with abandonment. But police and prosecutors remain baffled why she allegedly ditched her child.

This shouldn’t happen to any child, especially not in New York City.
Harrow did not deny dumping her son when she was questioned on Tuesday by Detective Daniel Corcoran of the 19th Precinct.

“No, I left him at 96th St. and Second Ave.,” she said in court papers.

The papers go on to state that Harrow “deserted” Elijah at 9:45 p.m. July 22 “with intent to wholly abandon (him).”

Harrow, who has one prior arrest on her record, was arraigned Wednesday and ordered held on $3,500 bail on Rikers Island.

Meanwhile, her son was being cared for by his grandmother in Brooklyn, sources said.

The boy was seen in front of the shuttered Gracie’s Corner cafe on the southwest corner of First Ave. and 86th St. when cops were notified that the child may have been abandoned.

There was no sign of either at the Ditmas Park building and a neighbor on the fourth floor said she had not seen them.

Geraldo Petrie, who manages a florist shop across the street, said he didn’t recall seeing an abandoned boy in front of the old cafe but said “this shouldn’t happen to any child, especially not in New York City.”

“It hurts our entire city to see a kid get lost or abandoned,” he said. “At least they found him.”
