Farisha Rahamot-Ali - 38 yo(2009)/ Deceased - Mansfield NJ

The body of a woman was discovered on the banks of Newbold Island on
the Delaware River (just off the Mansfield Twp. shoreline) by a kayaker
on the afternoon of November 14.
The death is being investigated by the New Jersey State Police Major
Crimes Unit and Bordentown Station detectives. The woman has not yet
been identified.


She is described as being 18 to 24 years old, having dark hair,
5-foot-2, approximately 120 pounds. She has two distinctive tattoos,
one on the shoulder blade of a phoenix and one on the ankle of flowers.
Her race is unknown.
The Burlington County Medical Examiner's Office performed an autopsy
and the cause and manner of death have not yet been determined. The
results of toxicology tests are still pending.
Evidence indicates that the woman's body was in the water for less than one week.
Accompanying this story is a composite drawing that shows what the woman may have looked like.
"The effects of the water, and the passage of time, precludes the
dissemination of a photograph,'' said Sgt. First Class Stephen Jones, a
spokesman for the State Police Public Information office.
"Also, information from the autopsy shows that the woman has had a
Caesarian section delivery of a baby at some point in the past. This
may indicate that she has a relatively young child,'' Jones added.
Detectives have cross-checked numerous databases and missing persons
lists without success. They are now requesting the public's help to
identify this woman.

State Police have released a composite facial sketch of the tattooed
woman found floating on Newbold Island in the Delaware River.

And
they revealed that the attactive woman’s midsection reveals that she
“has had a cesarian section delivery of a baby at some point in the
past,” reported the State Police spokesman, Sgt. 1st Class Stephen
Jones.

“This may indicate that she has a young child.”

Jones
said an inspection of the northwest bank of the island where she was
found last week by a kayaker showed no evidence that she died there. He
said she’d apparently been “deposited there by the tide.”

Investigators
are unable to release a photograph of the dead woman because of “the
effects of the water and the passage of time,” he reported. She was
believed to have been in the water for less than a week, long enough to
prevent investigators from determining her race.

The cause and manner of death have not been determined, Jones said. The results of toxicology testing are pending.

But
Jones did call the unsolved death “very suspicious,” even though there
were no obvious signs of trauma or ligature marks on the neck that
would indicate strangling.

He wouldn’t discuss whether the dead
woman was found nude — “we’re not going to discuss the clothing,” Jones
said — or whether an autopsy done Nov. 15 by the Burlington County
Medical Examiner had found semen in her vagina.

She is described
as being 18 to 24, 5-foot-2 with dark hair, weighing 120 pounds, with a
tattoo on her shoulder of a phoenix and one on the ankle of flowers.
Jones said her ears were apparently pierced, because the sketch artist
gave her studs.

Jones said investigators have cross-checked
databases and missing persons lists without success, and are asking for
the public’s help in identifying her.

WEST TRENTON — A missing Queens, N.Y., mother with a sister in
Willingboro has been identified as the woman whose tattooed body was
found washed up on Newbold Island in the Delaware River.

Farisha Rahamot-Ali, 38, was a native of Trinadad who was reported missing in
New York City on Oct. 27. A kayaker found the body on Nov. 14 on the
northwest bank of the island which is part of Mansfield Twp., Burlington
County.

But nobody knew who the woman was, until recently, when
her sister who lives in Willingboro “was searching the New Jersey State
Police Web site when she saw the press release with a composite drawing
and photos of her sister’s tattoos,” reported Sgt. 1st Class Stephen
Jones.

Rahamot-Ali is decorated with a colorful phoenix tattoo on
her shoulder, and flowers around an ankle. The sister, who was not
identified yesterday, then contacted detectives at the NJSP’s Bordentown
station “to tell them of her suspicion that the body was that of her
sister.”

Jones said Rahamot-Ali was positively identified by dental records.

The death has been termed very suspicious, but anautopsy Nov. 15 by the Burlington County Medical Examiner failed to
define the cause and manner of death.

I have moved this to Found Adults as we did not have that Room at the time this occurred. I also remember that there was some question as to the age and identity of the victim and she was thought to be a teenager who went missing from that area around the same time.
