Officials with the Bullitt County Sheriff's office are still trying
to figure out who wrote a mysterious note left at a rest stop on
Wednesday.
A rest stop employee found the note and turned it over to the Bullitt
County Sheriff's office. The handwritten note was taped to a mirror in
the men's bathroom. The rest stop is located at the Bernheim exit off
I-65.
Here's what the note said:

"Whoever finds this note, please call
the cops and tell them my name is Joshua R. McKae and my sisters name
is Laura. We from Indianapolis, IN. The man in this truck made us leave
.....We in a big, white and red truck that says First Fleet in red on
the side of it. He said we was going to Nashville and then back to his
house. In I think he said Hopkinsville, where we was going to live from
now on."

The note is signed: "Josh R. McKae," then says: "PS Please hurry."
Lt. Scotty McGaha with the Bullitt County Sheriff's office says
investigators have not found a Joshua or Laura McKae from Indianapolis.
Still, the note sounds urgent; but the details scribbled on it are
leading detectives nowhere.
McGaha said they found a driver from Hopkinsville that works for
First Fleet.
"We have now been able to determine he did not go through here,"
McGaha said.
Detectives determined the driver was in Texas at the time the note
was left behind.
McGaha said they used GPS devices and learned there were 10 trucks
belonging to First Fleet in that area when the note was left sometime
between 9 and 9:30 a.m. on March 10. Using that information,
investigators have been contacting the First Fleet drivers who were in
the area at that time.
While there aren't any solid facts, McGaha says they will continue
investigating this case.
"When you get this kind of info, I think, you have to take it
seriously until you know otherwise," McGaha said. "It could have
happened. There's a trucking company by that name. These cities do
exist. There is a Nashville, Tennessee, and we just got to go with the
information we got," he said.
If you have any information about the note, you're urged to contact
your local law enforcement agency.

Police are asking for the public's help after a suspicious letter
allegedly written by a young person who says he and his sister were
abducted was found at a Bullitt County rest stop.
JOSH and LAURA McKAE (Hoax?) - Bullitt County/Bernheim KY- TN alerted IMG_4850-742356
A maintenance
employee found the letter at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday on the mirror in
the men's restroom in the rest stop near exit 122 on southbound
Interstate 65, Bullitt Sheriff's Detective Scotty McGaha said today.

The
letter says it's from a person named Josh R. McKae, who police say
could be a child or teenager based on the handwriting. McKae wrote that
his sister, Laura, is with him and that both are from Indianapolis.

His
letter states, "This man in this truck made us leave with him from
Pilot." The closest Pilot Travel Center to the rest stop is at exit 121
in Brooks.

The truck is big, white and red with "First Fleet" in
red on the side of it, according to the letter.

The Bullitt
Sheriff's Office is working with the Indiana State Police and other law
enforcement agencies to determine if people with these names are
missing, McGaha said. So far, investigators can't find anyone from the
Indianapolis area with the names Josh R. or Laura McKae, he said.

Investigators
are gathering video taken by a camera at the truck stop and are waiting
to review it, McGaha said.

The letter goes on to say, with some
misspellings, "He said we was going to Nashville and then back to his
house in I think he said Hopkinsville were we was gonna live from now
on."

After contacting a "First Fleet" trucking company in
Tennessee, investigators learned 10 trucks matching this description
drove through Bullitt County Wednesday, McGaha said.

McGaha
acknowledged that the note could be a hoax.

It would seem
unlikely that an abductor would let a victim go to the restroom alone,
have a paper or pen or leave a victim alone long enough to write a
letter, he said.

"We're not that confident it's not (a hoax). But
we're not too confident it is," he said. "Obviously you take all this
seriously until you can't."

Anyone with information about the
case or who saw anything strange at the Bullitt rest stop or Pilot
station Wednesday is urged to call the Bullitt Sheriff's Office at
543-2514, the Sheriff's anonymous tip-line at 543-1262 or the Indiana
State Police at (317) 232-8248.

"I don't recall a time in recent
memory ... where we had a note like this," McGaha said.

no updates on this - i would think they would be able to establish if josh mckae or laura mckae even exist? they aren't on facebook - they could have finger printed the note. seems suspicious that no one has reported them kidnapped.
