Escanaba MI ---- Police in Escanaba, Michigan believe that a missing
girl who is in the company of a wanted sex offender may in Minnesota,
and more specifically, the Twin Cities Metro.



Investigators are concerned because 6 year old Faith Lee Quigley was
last seen with Willie Porter III, a convicted Michigan sex offender.
Porter currently has three warrants for his arrest, and is ordered not
to have any contact with individuals under the age of 17. Having Faith
Quigley with him is a direct violation of that order.
Porter and the child may be traveling in a 1995 Chevy Lumina,
Michigan license plate CBW 6639. Faith is described as 3 foot 5 inches
tall, 45 pounds, with sandy hair and blue eyes. Porter is 37 years old, 5
foot 6 and 178 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes, and may be
wearing glasses.

The search for a missing Escanaba woman and her
six-year-old daughter is currently underway.According
to Escanaba Public Safety, 32-year-old Heidi Quigley and her daughter,
Faith, have not been heard from for the past three to four weeks.
Detectives say that they have been told of a relationship
between Heidi Quigley and a convicted sex offender, Willie Porter, III.
Porter was convicted for three sexual-related crimes in 2003 and is on
parole. He has been reported as an absconder of parole with the
Michigan Department of Corrections on March 18.
The investigation shows that this timeframe is similar to the
period of time that family and friends in the Escanaba area say they
have not heard from the mother and daughter. Detectives say that
information has directed their investigation to the Minneapolis-St. Paul
area, and that an Amber Alert has been put out in Minnesota.
Anyone who may have information on the whereabouts of Heidi
and Faith Quigley or Willie Porter, III are asked to contact Escanaba
Public Safety or their nearest law enforcement agency.

A 6-year-old girl who had been reported missing in Michigan along
with her mother was found Friday at a Maplewood hotel with a registered
sex offender, whom authorities arrested.
The child was recovered by authorities, and her 32-year-old mother
and Willie Porter III, 37, were both taken into custody, according to
the Minnesota Crime Alert Network.
The girl did not appear to be injured, said Deputy Thomas Volk, a
spokesman for the Minnesota district of the U.S. Marshals Service.
Porter, a registered sex offender in Michigan, had been ordered not
to have any contact with children under 17, authorities said. He had
three warrants for his arrest in Michigan.
One of the warrants was in a new criminal sexual conduct case, and
another was for violating probation for a previous sex offense by
removing an electronic monitoring bracelet, Volk said.
Police in Escanaba MI had issued a missing child alert on
Thursday. Authorities gathered information leading them to believe the
girl and her mother had gone to Minnesota with Porter. They were located
on Friday by deputies from the Marshals Service's East Metro Fugitive
Task Force.
Porter was being held Friday in the Ramsey County jail.

An Escanaba woman accused of endangering her child will go to trial
in Delta County Probate Court in June, according to officials. Both
mother and daughter were reported missing from the area earlier this
month.Heidi Quigley, 32, is scheduled to appear in probate court
on June 4. The legal proceeding - whether a jury trial or not - will be
held to determine if civil allegations of child endangerment are true,
thus allowing the court to rule on her parental rights, explained Delta
County Probate Judge Robert Goebel Jr.The mother allegedly
allowed her 6-year-old daughter to be in the presence of a registered
sex offender convicted of crimes against minors. During a child
protective proceeding last week, the court placed the child in temporary
custody with a relative in Minnesota. The mother has been denied
visitation, added Goebel.Earlier this month, Escanaba Public
Safety investigated a missing/endangered person complaint involving
Quigley and her daughter. The two had not been seen in the Escanaba area
for about three weeks. An Amber Alert was issued for the child in
Minnesota where Quigley was originally from and has relatives and
friends.Police were concerned about the welfare of the child
because Quigley had been in a romantic relationship with known sex
offender Willie Porter III. Porter violated his parole around the same
time the mother and daughter disappeared in March.Porter was on
parole through the Michigan Department of Corrections. He wore a tether
which was cut off and found March 18 on M-35, about five miles north of
Menominee.Investigation into the past relationship between
Quigley and Porter showed signs of abuse and violence, according to Det.
Lt. Darin Hunter of Escanaba Public Safety. Porter - convicted in 2003
of three sexual-related crimes against minors - was court-ordered not to
have any contact with the woman or her daughter.After following
several leads, police in Minnesota located the mother and daughter in
safe condition in St. Paul on April 9. Porter was apprehended without
incident. He is currently lodged in a downstate prison, said Hunter.If
one or more civil allegations against Quigley are proven to be true
during the June 4 trial, the case will proceed to a dispositional
hearing, where the charges are either dismissed or her parental rights
terminated, explained Goebel.
