responding to a report of a kidnapping found a Nevada woman and her two
sons safe in California on Thursday about five hours after she
allegedly abducted them from her estranged husband's home in Carson
City. Kimberly Brune, 43, was apprehended shortly after noon and
was being held in Vacaville, Calif., police said. Carson City
Sheriff's Det. Craig Lowe said she was placed under arrest but there
were no immediate details on the charges. Her boys, Kyle 7,
and Nicholas 5, were unharmed, he said. Authorities tracked
her down west of Sacramento after she used a credit card. "We
asked to be notified if there was any activity on the card," Lowe said.
The sheriff's office issued an Amber Alert when it was
determined a court order had stripped Brune of her parental rights.
Officers also were concerned about the children because Brune takes
psychiatric medications. According to the alert, she was
reported as being "prone to hallucinations, including hearing voices,
and was reported as being delusional, believing she is under electronic
surveillance."
