Authorities are asking for the public's help in locating a missing child they believe is at risk.
The Sacramento County Sheiff's Department says they're concerned about
the whereabouts of 5-year-old Kailyn May, who is believed to be with her
41-year-old mother Sheri Lyn May and the mother's boyfriend,
55-year-old Joseph Loescher.



Authorities said toxicology reports on the mother returned positive
results for drugs and marijuana when the mother and daughter went to a
local hospital after the mother fell down.
Hospital staff notified Child Protective Services, but the mother and daughter left with Loescher before officers could arrive.
Authorities say the three, who are from Fair Oaks, are believed to be driving an older model, white Jeep Cherokee.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.

SACRAMENTO, CA -- Sheriff's deputies have found a 5-year-old girl who
authorities believed may have been in harm's way because of her
mother's drug use.
Sgt. Tim Curran with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department said
5-year-old Kailyn May was located Thursday afternoon. She was placed in
the care of Child Protectives Services.
The girl's mother, Sheri Lyn May, 41, went to the hospital Wednesday
after she fell down and hurt herself. Emergency room personnel ran
toxicology tests on her and found methamphetamine, marijuana and
prescription drugs in her system, according to a sheriff's department
news release.
May brought her daughter to the hospital with her, and the staff
became concerned about the girl's welfare and contacted CPS. But before
the girl could be placed in protective custody, May's boyfriend, Joseph
Loescher, 55, arrived at the hospital and picked up the pair.
Curran said Kailyn was considered an at-risk missing person because of her mother's drug use.
Neither May nor Loescher are facing charges at this time, Curran said.
