A father has been indicted for allegedly throwing his one-year-old son against a wall causing severe brain damage to the child.
LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ)
-- A father has been indicted by a grand jury for allegedly throwing his
one-year-old son against a wall which resulted in severe brain damage.
William Estep, 21, of Proctorville, Ohio was
indicted in December on charges of Felonious Assault, Child Endangerment and Tampering with Evidence.

According to Detective Aaron Bollinger with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department, Estep
called 911 on October 26 to report that his son had fallen down a flight
of stairs and was unconscious. After arriving at the hospital,
officials contacted Child Services and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s
Department.
Det. Bollinger tells WSAZ.com that he spoke with
Estep at the hospital and he told the detective that his son was asleep
upstairs, and when he came downstairs he heard a loud noise. When he
went to check he found his son unconscious on the floor at the bottom of the steps.
Bollinger says that in mid-November the child
was transferred to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital due to the massive
brain damage and injuries. Officials at that hospital then discovered
what they believed to be old injuries and asked for further investigation into the case.
Detective Bollinger says he conducted another
interview with Estep on December 7. During that interview, Bollinger
says that Estep admitted to fabricating the story about his son falling down the stairs.
Estep then admitted to the detective that he had thrown his son against a wooden wall in his home.
Detective Bollinger told WSAZ.com that he immediately placed Estep under arrest.
Estep is being held in the Lawrence County Jail on a $500,000 cash bond.
Estep is expected to have a hearing on charges on Jan. 19 at 8:30 a.m.
