A Northwest Side girl who went missing last Tuesday was found
overnight in the city's downtown area near State and Lake streets,
officials said.
Kassandra Medina, 15, was last seen about a week ago on the 4900
block of West Cuyler Avenue, police said in a missing person alert.
Following a tip, community activist Andrew Holmes spotted the teen
late Tuesday night near State and Lake streets, he said. The girl said
she was waiting for a ride, but eventually identified herself as the
missing teen.
Holmes called her mother and police were sent to the scene.
"She was hungry and scared," Holmes said this morning.
The girl's mother told a WGN reporter that her daughter was being evaluated at an area hospital and was expected to return home.
Police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro confirmed Medina was found, but had no additional information about the case.
