Casey Anthony: Judge rules on what evidence jury will hear
posted by halboedeker on February, 10 2011 6:18 PM
Chief Judge Belvin Perry has ruled on some evidence that the jury will hear at Casey Anthony’s murder trial.
At 6 tonight, WFTV-Channel 9 anchor Bob Opsahl listed Perry’s rulings: “Prosecutors can discuss Casey’s history of lying and stealing and her MySpace diary talking about death and deception. They can also introduce a shovel Casey borrowed from a neighbor days after Caylee disappeared. And that tell-tale tattoo.” WFTV showed the Bella Vita tattoo. “The jury will also hear limited details about Casey’s sex life,” Opsahl added.
Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her daughter, Caylee. The trial is scheduled to start in May.
Perry’s rulings are a setback for Anthony’s lawyers, who had tried to keep the evidence out.
At 6:30, in WFTV’s newscast on sister station WRDQ-Channel 27, Kathi Belich reported that WFTV’s legal analyst, Bill Sheaffer, saw no real surprises in Perry’s rulings.
“A lot of the evidence goes to Casey’s state of mind in the days after her daughter Caylee’s disappearance,” Belich said.
“The jury will also hear limited details about Casey’s sex life with ex-boyfriend Tony Lazzaro, who told prosecutors Casey was having nightmares and never told him Caylee was missing,” Belich added.
