DEVION WAFER - 1 yo - Homer/Claiborne LA

The Claiborne Parish sheriff has confirmed the death of a missing 1-year-old boy.
A detective searching property east of Homer found the body of Devion Wafer
in a creek Wednesday evening.Devion's mother, Ruby, remains missing.Ruby
Wafer, 19, and her son were last seen early Monday morning, but weren't
reported missing until that night by the child's father.Wafer lived a couple
miles east of Homer. Devion was found about a mile from their home.
Investigators said there have been no arrests in connection with the disappearance
or the child's death.It is not known how the child died. His body has been
sent to a medical examiner in Little Rock for an autopsy.Anyone with information
on Ruby Wafer's whereabouts is asked to call the Claiborne Sheriff's Office.

Wafer was found floating in five feet of water. A detective who found the body says he was lead to the scene to search for the boy after his mother, Ruby, posted comments on her Facebook page that she might do harm to her child."...

..."Ruby Wafer's mother told KSLA News 12 today she suspects Devion's father is involved because Ruby is 2 months pregnant with another of his children, and he wanted her to get an abortion, but she refused.

The sheriff told us they have interviewed him, but do not consider him a suspect at this time."

Little Devion Emmanuel Wafer, 17 months old, was laid to rest on Wednesday morning, March 30, at Forest Grove Cemetery.
With heartfelt grief and tears abound, the funeral service was held at Forest Grove CME Church under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home. Family and friends gathered together to say good-bye to a little boy whose life was cut so short.

"Sadly, the body found behind an abandoned store at Hwy. 2 and Hwy. 806 on Sunday has been identified as the missing Ruby Wafer.

According to Claiborne Parish Sheriff Ken Bailey, there were no marks on her body to indicate any obvious cause of death.

“She wasn’t stabbed, choked or shot -- nothing,” Bailey said. “There were no marks on her to indicate any cause of death.”...
