Man Arrested For Watonga Girl's Murder
WATONGA, Oklahoma -- Authorities have taken booked a man into jail on a murder complaint of an 8-year-old Watonga girl.
A man found his eight-year-old daughter Rosalyn Reynolds' body around 5 a.m. Wednesday behind an apartment building at 500 Leach Street in Watonga. Police said the father saw the girl's cousin, 20-year-old James Daukei, in the field with the body. Daukei ran from the scene when confronted by the girl's father and two other men.
Erma said her cousin James Daukei and her children were asleep when she left her apartment early Wednesday morning, but when she came back, she made the gruesome discovery.
"The bathroom was...I looked in there and my toilet was full of blood-- in the toilet, the floor, the walls," Erma said.
Rosalyn, or Rosa as her family called her, was Erma's daughter.
"They said they found my baby in a field, and he was fixin to bury her and he took off," Emma said.
Daukei, who's also known as "Icey", was taken into custody booked into jail just before 10 a.m. after someone spotted him walking on State Highway 8 north of Watonga.
"We did make a visual spotting of him near a wooded area. We searched the area and took him into custody," said Blaine County Sheriff Ricky Ainsworth.

Suspect says dad halted burial of Watonga girl, 8
Rosalin Reynolds, 8, of Watonga, OK, had been stabbed at least four times, according to an arrest affidavit.
WATONGA — A man who confessed to stabbing and killing an 8-year-old Watonga girl was digging a hole in a field to bury her when her father arrived, a state agent reported.
James “Icey” Daukei Jr., 20, of Watonga, was charged with first-degree murder Friday in Blaine County in the death of second-grader Rosalin Reynolds. He is accused in stabbing her multiple times with a knife.
The child's body had at least four puncture or incise wounds, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agent Martin Solorzano reported in a court affidavit.
Authorities have not said what led to the attack.
Ralph Reynolds, the child's father, told investigators he and another man, Frank Skinner, found Daukei about 5 a.m. Wednesday lying next to the child in a field behind Grand Prairie Apartments, where the family lives.
Daukei had a shovel which he had used to dig a hole, the agent reported.
Daukei chased Reynolds with the shovel, according to the agent, and Skinner ran to call police. Daukei then ran away. He was arrested about 10 a.m. near Watonga.
Daukei is a cousin of Rosalin's mother and had spent the night with the Reynolds family.
An autopsy showed the victim died of a stab wound to the chest, said Cherokee Ballard, state medical examiner's office spokeswoman.
Ballard did not release any other details about the autopsy.

Slain Oklahoma girl’s funeral draws hundreds
WATONGA — Erma Daukei wept Thursday as she gripped the lectern behind her daughter’s casket and read a poem she wrote to the slain 8-year-old.
“You touched so many lives without knowing it,” Daukei said during Rosalin Reynolds’ funeral service. “Rosa, you have been loved and you are very well missed. I will take care of your brothers and sister very well.”
About 500 people packed the Watonga High School gym to remember Rosalin, who was found fatally stabbed March 23 in a field outside her family’s Watonga apartment. Dozens of family members and friends sat in folding chairs arranged on the gymnasium floor while hundreds of others filled about three-quarters of the seats in the stands.
The funeral service began with prayers and a Cheyenne song sung to the tune of “Amazing Grace” and featured several speakers, including the pastor of the church in Elk City that Rosalin attended before moving to Watonga before her first-grade year.
Rosalin’s small white casket was adorned with traditional American Indian blankets and flowers. More flowers, pictures and blankets were arranged on both sides of the casket.
Watonga School District Superintendent Craig Cummins described the day of Rosalin’s death as “one of the saddest days in our history.”
“We don’t want to remember the horrible things, the bad things that happened,” Cummins said. “We’re going to remember the things she shared with us.”
April Green Swanegan, another speaker, read from a poem called “The Dash.” The title refers to the dash that appears between someone’s birthday and date of death in an obituary or on a tombstone.
“For that dash represents all the time that she spent alive on Earth,” Swanegan read. “And now only those that loved her know what that little line is worth.”
