WKMG-Channel 6 started its late Thursday news with a photo of a carefree Casey Anthony two weeks after her daughter disappeared three years ago.

In the shot, Anthony is shown merrily sipping beer on July 4, 2008, near Lake Eola.

Tony Pipitone reported that Yuri Melich, lead detective in the case, got the photo earlier this week.

Will Waters, who took the photo, told investigators that Anthony’s “energy was awesome and she was fun to be around” on the holiday. She told Waters that the nanny had the toddler.

Former defense attorney Linda Kenney Baden tells CBS’ “48 Hours Mystery,” in an interview to air at 10 p.m. Saturday on WKMG, that the nanny was a lie.

Pipitone reminded viewers that Anthony told her friend Amy Huizenga that the toddler was with a nanny at Sea World, and Anthony told her mother that the child was at Universal Studios. “In fact, investigators believe that Caylee had been dead two and a half weeks,” Pipitone added.

Anthony is charged with first-degree murder in Caylee’s death. The trial will start in May. Pipitone said it appears the state wants to use the photo because it shows the young mother’s state of mind.

WKMG heavily promoted its exclusive through the day. Anchor Gaard Swanson opened the 11 p.m. news, “Investigators have found new evidence and only Local 6 can show it to you.” Anchor Lauren Rowe added, “Investigative reporter Tony Pipitone has the story you’ll see only on Local 6.”
