George Anthony To Remain Hospitalized Another Week

George Anthony can have visitors, if he wants, with prior doctor's approval. His wife Cindy has been there at least once.





Monday, January 26, 2009 – updated: 6:04 pm EST January 26, 2009ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- George Anthony's problems appear to be even more serious than first thought. According to the Anthony family attorney, Brad Conway, he'll stay in the hospital for at least another week after threatening to kill himself.



Eyewitness News has learned George is probably in a lockdown ward at Halifax Medical Center in his own room, if for no other reason, for security reasons because of his high profile.



Usually it's the anger that comes first and then the depression takes hold. George Anthony's depression tightened its grip six months after Caylee's disappearance and almost did not let go.



Orlando psychotherapist Dr. Linnda Durre, who is not at all involved in the case, is not treating the Anthonys and has never met them, told Eyewitness News, whether George's hospitalization is voluntary or on a psychiatrist's orders, he could be in for a long stay.



"It can be a month. It can be several months, depending on the evaluation, if they feel he's still shaky," Durre said.



Durre said detoxification alone takes time. Eyewitness News has learned George drank as many as eight bottles of beer and mixed that with possibly two weeks' worth of sleeping pills and blood pressure medication.


"His discharge date has not been determined, so there's no updates on that now," hospital spokesperson Salina Wang said.
