Unnamed Boy - 12 yo/ Accused: Margarita Obando - West Palm Beach FL

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - A mother charged with attempted first -degree
murder for allegedly stabbing her son was denied bond on Saturday
morning. Margarita Obando, 45, cried as the judge denied her bond.
Obando was found on Ocean Boulevard in Palm Beach approximately four hours
after her 12-year old son called 911. The stabbing happened at the Esperanza
apartment complex in the 2500 block of 10th Avenue in suburban Lake Worth.
According to a probable-cause affidavit, the boy woke up around 7 a.m. and saw
his mother watching him. He later woke up to find his mother over him stabbing him
and saying, "I am going to kill you. I don't want you to hurt anyone." The boy then
ran into another bedroom and hid under a bed. Palm
Beach County Sheriff's Deputies say that after the stabbing Obando left
her home, leaving her 12-year-old son suffering wounds to the chest.
The boy called 911 and reported that his mother attacked him. The boy was airlifted to
Delray Medical Center where he remains in serious but stable condition. He is expected to survive.
Deputies spent Friday morning scouring areas around the apartment complex, near
10th Avenue North, west of I-95, searching for Obando. She was
found walking in 800 block of South Ocean Boulevard in Palm Beach when
an officer saw her with scratches on her arm, and blood on her clothing. Not
knowing who she was, and concerned about her welfare the officer asked
Obando if someone had hurt her. According to the affidavit she said, "I
stabbed my son. I killed my son."
She was taken into custody and transported to the Palm Beach County Jail.
