FRANKLIN CALEB SMITH - 15 yo - Maysville ( OH border) KY
A Maysville teen told his mother he was going to the Speedway gas station on Forest
Avenue, in Maysville on Wednesday and that was the last time she
spoke with her son, Sue Smith told police.
Because his disappearance did not meet the criteria for an Amber Alert,
Franklin Caleb Smith, a 15-year-old Mason County High School
student has been listed as a missing child on the Missing and
Exploited Children's hotline and on the LINK/NCIC system police use
to track information, said Maysville Assistant Police Chief Lisa O'Hearn.
"We are checking out every lead we have been given," O'Hearn said. "It does not appear
to be an abduction."
His parents, Frank Smith, who lives in Bracken County, and Sue Smith, who lives in
Maysville, are hoping another parent will realize their son has not
been in contact with either parent since Wednesday and he should be home.
"I talked to him Monday night and he seemed fine. There have been a number of
claims, even one that he was going to his cousin's house in
Wisconsin," Frank Smith said. "I called my niece and she said she
has been on the social websites with him but hasn't heard from him."
There have been repeated claims Smith was seen in Aberdeen, Ohio, and police are
also checking out that lead, O'Hearn said.
Sue Smith describes her son as a "talker who makes friends easily. He could be
anywhere," she said Friday. "It is not like him not to call
somebody. He has minutes left on his phone and there has not been
any activity on his Facebook account except people asking him to contact them."
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Smith should contact the duty officer at Maysville
Police Department by calling 606-564-9411, O'Hearn said.
